Portland police uncover sledgehammer, pipe, other weapons while clearing park outside courthouse

Several items that included a sledgehammer, pipe and a chain with a lock were found Thursday during the cleanup of downtown Portland, Ore., parks near where protests have raged for weeks, police officials said Thursday. The maintenance of Chapman and Lownsdale squares — which sit adjacent to one another — was conducted following a night of confrontation between authorities and protesters at the nearby Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse, the Portland Police Bureau said. Officers gave people inside 10 minutes to clear the area and no arrests were initially made at the time. Aside from the weapons, other items recovered at the parks included body armor, helmets, a shield and leaf blowers. “There were shocking amounts of refuse in the parks as well,” a police news release said. Police officers providing security for the cleanup arrested two people. Kristina Naranja Rivera, 34, faces disorderly conduct and criminal mischief charges and 25-year-old Camillo Massagli faces charges of criminal mischief, trespassing and interfering with a peace officer. On Wednesday night, several hundred people gathered outside the courthouse. A group that remained until later in the night wore gas masks and were seen carrying signs, hockey sticks, lacrosse sticks, umbrellas, leaf blowers and fireworks, police said. At one point, the building was targeted with bottles, gas canisters and other objects. In addition to the protest Wednesday night, the city experienced multiple shootings and reports of people being assaulted nearby by a group with a pellet gun. Two minors were taken into custody on suspicion for the assaults.

Wait.  I’m SO confused!  The mayor of Portland and the governor of Oregon (both liberal Democrats, of course) are telling us that it’s just “peaceful protests” going on there.  How can this be?  John Adams famously said, “facts are stubborn things.”  Indeed.  To see photos and more (proof) of this insanity going on in Portland, click on the text above.  Then, remember what the liberal idiots at CNN (like Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon) and MSNBC, etc. calling what’s going on there, simply “peaceful protests,”…or they’re latest talking point; “mostly peaceful protests.”  It’s no wonder more and more people are turning away from CNN and MSNBC.  You can’t see what’s going on there, and then hear idiots like Chris Cuomo, Don Lemon, and Joy Reid saying it’s all simply “peaceful protests” and somehow spin it to attack Trump for sending in federal marshals to protect the U.S. federal courthouse there….which was, of course, the right decision.  The alternative was to allow the thugs in Portland to just burn it down.  Total insanity.

DOJ: 72 Portland Rioters Arrested, Dozens Charged with Federal Crimes

Federal authorities in Portland have arrested 74 demonstrators and charged 60 with federal crimes, Department of Justice (DOJ) spokeswoman Kerri Kupec announced on Monday. The DOJ spokeswoman made the announcement on Monday, providing the number of federal arrests and charged cases “related to violent opportunists & civil unrest.” There have been 74 arrests in Portland alone, with 60 demonstrators facing charges. Nationwide, federal authorities have made 236 arrests, with 238 defendants charged: According to the DHS spokesperson, protesters have been equipped with “Molotov cocktails, Sledgehammers, Pipe bombs, Mortar fireworks, and Metal spikes”: The Portland Police Bureau has affirmed many of the tools listed, writing as recently as July 26 that downtown protesters were equipped with “gas masks, carried shields, hockey sticks, leaf blowers, flags, and umbrellas specifically to thwart police in crowd dispersal or attempt to conceal criminal acts.” Violent protests have continued.to ravage Portland, as countless videos show demonstrators vandalizing the federal courthouse, launching mortars toward the building, setting fires in the area, and targeting officers. Rioters reportedly hurled Molotov cocktails toward federal officers over the weekend as they moved to disperse the violent crowds. “As federal officers left the courthouse to respond to attacks on the fence last night, just like on other nights, rioters responded with hard projectiles, mortar style fireworks and lasers that can cause permanent blindness,” the DHS’s July 27 readout detailing the chaos in Portland read. The readout affirmed that a Molotov cocktail “was thrown over the fence” shortly after midnight: Portland Police also announced the discovery of a bag filled with ammunition and Molotov cocktails near Lownsdale Square Park early Monday morning: Portland Police have been relatively hands-off in quelling the unrest following the addition of federal agents and the City Council’s move to bar the department from assisting federal law enforcement. Protesters, however, have continued to assault authorities, hurling various projectiles night after night and shining lasers into the eyes of officers. “You’ve seen the green lasers that are being used out there. We have three officers who currently have eye injuries, and they may not recover sight in those eyes from those laser attacks,” Federal Protective Service (FPS) Deputy Director of Operations Richard announced last week.

For more on what’s happening in Portland, click on the text above.  Hopefully this nonsense isn’t in your town or city.  Kudos to the U.S. Dept. of Justice (DOJ) for stepping in and stepping up, since Mayor Ted Wheeler (D) has not only abdicated his duties to protect his city and it’s citizens….he’s actually been siding with the thugs and riotiers destroying that city.  Unreal..

Federal judge denies Oregon’s request to stop arrests by federal agents in Portland

A federal judge on Friday denied an order sought by Oregon’s attorney general to prohibit federal agents from making arrests during the ongoing protests in Portland amid a battle between progressive local leaders and the Trump administration over the presence of federal forces. U.S. District Court Judge Michael Mosman said the state lacked standing to sue on behalf of protesters. Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum sued the Trump administration last week, alleging federal agents have arrested protesters without probable cause and used excessive force. Authorities deny the accusations. The lawsuit sought a restraining order to stop federal authorities from unlawfully detaining protesters. Agents have arrested 18 people in Portland this week, the Justice Department said Friday. They face a slew of charges, including assaulting federal officers, arson, looting and damaging federal property. The agents have been “subjected to nightly threats and assaults from demonstrators while performing their duties,” said U.S. Attorney Billy J. Williams. Federal agents were sent to the city by President Trump, who has blamed local officials for not addressing the nightly gatherings while trying to project himself as a law and order president. The most recent civil unrest has occurred near the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse where fires have been set and some protesters have hurled projectiles at agents. Protesters also projected lasers on the building and tried to take down a security fence. They scattered as clouds of gas rose up and agents fired crowd control munitions, which critically injured a demonstrator this month. However, the use of tear gas and rubber bullets have set off a wave of criticism from Democratic mayors and civil liberties advocates across the country who are opposed to the deployment of federal agents to cities. “While the decision in the state’s lawsuit is disappointing, federal agents should not for a minute think their unconstitutional actions will go unanswered,” said Jann Carson, interim executive director of the ACLU of Oregon. “The ACLU will be in court again to hold federal agents accountable for their unconstitutional attacks on the right to protest.”

We applaud Judge Mosman’s excellent decision here.

Greg Gutfeld says Dem-run cities should fix own problems: ‘Let the mob’ govern them

How should President Trump solve the problem of rioting and lawlessness in many of America’s big cities? He should simply let liberal leaders deal with the problem on their own, Greg Gutfeld said Saturday. Gutfeld also ripped the media, calling them hypocrites. “So why are all crimes suddenly legal in a protest? And what happens when you give in to the protesters? The crimes only get worse. It’s like you get three drugs to a junkie. Any attempt at communication is seen as weakness, which eggs on the mob,” Gutfeld said on “The Greg Gutfeld Show.” “So the question remains: What do you do now in the face of violence? The [liberals] in the media want the feds to do nothing — even as the city leaders do nothing too. Everyone thinks the best thing to do is nothing — except nothing in the face of crime will mean more crime.” “Maybe then the businesses and citizens will speak up to save their city. Or maybe not,” Gutfeld said. “Let Portland be the first American city in history to be sacked by a roving band of angry teens, if that’s what the voters there want.” Gutfeld added that the media have been covering for Democrats. “Just because Democrats set their hair on fire doesn’t mean we have to pay to put it out. Meanwhile, the media will continue to dismiss these events from Portland’s mayhem to Chicago’s bloodshed as mere local problems. “Why? Could it be the press calls them local problems, because calling them national problems forces the national media to do its job,” Gutfeld said. “It’s a glaring hypocrisy. One ugly moment of police brutality is a global issue, but two solid months of rioting? Local problem. A local problem is defined as a story the media doesn’t want you to see.” The host blamed the media for enflaming the violence “Meanwhile, shootings in Chicago continue to climb as other Democratic strongholds struggle to contain the lawlessness. And yet the media turns their cameras away from the carnage,” Gutfeld said. “Strange. In the old days, the press slogan was, ‘If it bleeds, it leads.’ That’s changed, perhaps because we figured out who’s more responsible for all this new bloodshed. It’s them.”

As usual, Greg nails it with his biting sarcasm and dry wit.  To see his “Gregologue” from Saturday, July 26th, click on the text above.  Thanks Greg!

Opinion/Analysis: When Will we Dynamite the Statues of Slave-Owning Roman Emperors?

Speaker of the House of Commons Jacob Rees-Mogg has proposed the flattening of Stonehenge because of its ugly associations with human sacrifice. He was responding to a proposal by his Conservative MP colleague Sir Desmond Swayne that all traces of the Roman occupation of Britain should be erased. They were both joking but underneath was a very serious point about the utter hypocrisy of Black Lives Matters’ war on statuary: how much time needs to elapse before a historical crime is considered expiated? Should the Italian government be paying Britain reparations for the indignities its legions and slave-keeping elite inflicted on our people from 55BC to 388AD? Should the Egyptian government finally tear down those crumbling, pyramid-shaped eyesores — currently blocking potential space for affordable housing in the Cairo suburb of Giza — which were notoriously the product of slave labor? And if we’re talking the evils of slavery, what about the compensation the descendants of the Barbary pirates must owe for all the innocent Europeans they captured and used either as galley slaves or incorporated into their harems? Or does Barbary piracy not count because it involved North Africans enslaving white people who, being privileged, are legitimate targets? All these questions are purely rhetorical, of course. We know what the answers are because Black Lives Matter has made it perfectly clear: slavery was only bad between roughly the 15th and 19th centuries, and when it was white people who were doing it to black people, mostly. There’s no discussion to be had when Muslims do it (as in parts of the world they continue to in the 21st century). There’s no discussion to be had when Travellers do it (ditto). There’s no discussion to be had when black people do it to other black people (as happened, of course, in the Ashanti Kingdom which owed much of its wealth to the people it captured from the African interior, brought in chains to ports like Elmina on the coast of what is now Ghana, to be shipped across the Atlantic by whites.) Slavery is only bad when Black Lives Matter says it is bad.

Exactly!  And, that’s the con/scam of it all.  Just a bunch of self-serving lies by a black racist, domestic terrorist organization we’re all supposed to bend over and grab our ankles for.  Screw that!  Thanks to James Delingpole for that outstanding piece.  🙂

Felon Charged with Murdering Retired Police Captain David Dorn in Riots

A convicted felon has been charged with murdering St. Louis, Missouri, 77-year-old retired police captain David Dorn during riots in the city last week. The St. Louis Police Department announced Sunday that 24-year-old convicted felon Stephan Cannon has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, armed criminal action, and unlawfully possessing a firearm after he allegedly murdered Dorn. On June 2, according to police, Dorn was guarding Lee’s Pawn and Jewelry in St. Louis while riots, fires, and looting broke out. Surveillance footage, police said, shows Dorn arriving at the pawn shop, which had already been looted by Cannon and other men. That is when Cannon can allegedly be seen on the footage approaching the corner of the pawn shop with a gun, and it is at this time that Dorn was shot, killed, and left on the sidewalk bleeding. While searching Cannon’s residence, St. Louis police officers recovered a TV that had been looted from the pawn shop that night. Cannon is currently being held without bail. Dorn had served nearly 40 years with the St. Louis Police Department before retiring in 2007. Dorn also served as police chief in the small town of Moline Acres, Missouri.

This is a story we’ve been keeping an eye on the last couple of days.  And, we’re happy to report this piece of garbage is finally in jail and being held without bail, as well he should.  Hopefully the others who were accomplices and also looted, and then stood by and did nothing but videotape “Cap” bleeding out for FaceBook will be rounded up as well, and charged.  Of course, we’ll continue to keep an eye on this story.  For more, click on the text above.

St. Louis police release surveillance video of 7 ‘persons of interest’ in death of retired officer David Dorn

Surveillance footage capturing a group of men breaking into a pawn shop around the same time of the killing of a retired police captain attempting to prevent looting was released by St. Louis authorities Friday. The video shows seven “persons of interest” running into Lee’s Pawn & Jewelry on Tuesday during a night of widespread looting and rioting following a mostly peaceful protest over the death of George Floyd. The men all have their faces covered — six with masks and one with another covering. One man takes off his mask and puts his left hand to his mouth. Authorities believe he may have cut himself. At least two of the men were armed with handguns. The video runs from 2:13 a.m. to 2:17 a.m. David Dorn, 77, was found dead from a gunshot to the torso around 2:30 a.m. Prior to working security at the pawn shop, he served as a police captain with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and a police chief in nearby Moline Acres. He retired in 2014 after more than 40 years in law enforcement. “They called him ‘Cap.’ That was the Cap. That was the Cap, everybody knows that was him,” Dorn’s son, Brian Powell, told Fox2Now, adding that “police work ran through his veins.” Investigators said Dorn was killed responding to a burglar alarm at the shop. He often checked on the store, which is owned by a friend. “David Dorn was exercising law enforcement training that he learned here,” St Louis Police Chief John Hayden said. His death occurred during a night in the city that saw looting and property damage following protests over the May 25 death of Floyd, a black man who died while in police custody in Minneapolis, Minn. Dorn was found on a sidewalk in front of the shop. A Facebook Live video captured some of his last moments. Powell said if Dorn was still alive, he would have shown empathy toward his attacker. “My dad, he is a forgiving soul. So he would have forgiven that person and try to talk to them because he was real big on trying to talk to youth and mentoring young people as well,” he said. “He was trying to get them on the straight and narrow and everything.” President Trump weighed in on Dorn’s death earlier this week, saying he was “viciously shot and killed by despicable looters” and that “we honor our police officers, perhaps more than ever before.” Anyone with information about the fatal shooting is asked to contact St. Louis homicide detectives. A $45,000 reward is being offered by Crime Stoppers for information leading to an arrest.

Or you can reach the St. Louis PD Homicide Div directly by calling:  (314) 444-5371.  For more info, and/or to see the video of these “persons of interest,” click on the text above.  These are pieces of garbage; total scum. If you have any info that’ll lead to an arrest of these maggots, you could get up to $45K.  Normally we don’t do the crime beat thing here at The Daily Buzz.  But, I’m originally from St. Louis, and this one hits close to home.  So, we’ll make an exception here. I’m disgusted by this and we need to find these animals and arrest them.  We can’t have thugs and bullies like this on the street.  “Cap” was the father of 5 and the grandfather of 10.  He was a good man who served his community and was loved.  What happened to him cannot stand.  We’ll, of course, keep an eye on this developing story.

Utah National Guard confirms they were kicked out of DC hotel, mayor claims budget issue

The Utah National Guard confirmed Friday that 200 service members are being kicked out of hotels in the nation’s capital as D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser clashes with President Trump over the handling of the George Floyd protests in the city. Bowser, who wants all non-D.C. troops out of the city, blamed the National Guard relocation on a budget issue and said the city will not pay for the accommodations — amid days of protests over racial injustice, some of which have been violent. “Last night, we were informed that our service members would be relocated from their hotel rooms,” the Utah National Guard said in a statement Friday. Maj. Jaime Thomas told Fox News they identified another hotel and will relocate Friday. “It has been heartbreaking for our Utah National Guard service members to witness the pain, suffering, and frustration in our communities across the nation,” the National Guard added. “The Utah National Guard has been supporting civil authorities with our top priority of protecting lives as well as preserving property and critical infrastructure in our nation’s capital.” The District of Columbia’s National Guard said it is working to resolve the matter after hundreds of soldiers had been staying at a Marriott hotel near downtown Washington since being activated on Monday. On Friday, Bowser said the removals were over a budget issue, saying D.C. residents would not cover the hotel bills. “This is overbilling,” she said. Pressed on the matter, the mayor said they did not “evict anybody from a private hotel” but said the city will not pay for National Guard housing. She said they have no desire to see soldiers on the street but said the armory or the home state of the National Guard should pay for their arrangements. “If they are going to use rooms we reserved, they have to pay for them,” she said. “At no time did we intend or would we would be able to effect evicting any guardsman from any hotel,” Bowser added. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah – who broke the news Thursday about the removals “Fox News @ Night” – has slammed Bowser as an “ungrateful mayor” over the situation. Bowser said Friday she hasn’t had a chance to talk to Lee. In a new statement Friday afternoon, Lee said: “Evicting Utah National Guard personnel from their hotels after a late-night shift risking their lives to protect Washington is a shameful, petty, discrediting decision by Mayor Bowser.” Lee, who has worked in all three branches of the federal government, said on Fox News he’s “never seen a situation like this.” “I find this very strange,” Lee said. “They [the soldiers] came here at the request of their country and now, in the middle of it, in the middle of a deployment, in the middle of their fourth consecutive all-nighter, they’re being told they’re not welcome there. That is unpatriotic; that is unacceptable.” The senator explained these young soldiers – with 10 hours notice – left their homes to protect the White House and other properties. He said many soldiers work overnight and will have to collect their belongings at 10 a.m. and find another place to stay. President Trump slammed Bowser over the issue on Friday. He tweeted: “The incompetent Mayor of Washington, D.C., @MayorBowser, who’s budget is totally out of control and is constantly coming back to us for “handouts”, is now fighting with the National Guard, who saved her from great embarrassment over the last number of nights. If she doesn’t treat these men and women well, then we’ll bring in a different group of men and women!” Heavily armed federal officers in tactical gear have been on the district’s streets for days, after demonstrators set fires, broke store windows and stole items from the shelves and left police officers injured. The Trump administration has made an effort to show the use of force in Washington. Hours before a 7 p.m. curfew on Tuesday, cars were being stopped at military checkpoints downtown, and a cavalry of armored military vehicles could be seen driving through the district. Bowser said the administration had floated the idea of taking over the Metropolitan Police Department, a proposal she strongly rejected. She threatened to take legal action if the federal government attempted to do so. Trump announced from the White House on Monday that if “a city or a state refuses to take the actions that are necessary to defend the life and property of their residents, then I will deploy the United States military and quickly solve the problem for them.”

Wow..  Absolutely stunning..   Mayor Bowser (D) is a disgusting, petty, ungrateful, bitch….and that’s being nice.  Shame on her for putting these poor Utah Guard troops through all of this.   As an update, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) have secured hotel alternative accommodations in Washington, D.C. for these fine Guard troops from Utah and South Carolina.  So, we’re happy to report they’ll be ok.  That being said..  This Mayor needs to be called out for her politically-motivated stunt.  Billing issue, my ass.  She spent today renaming a street across from the White House to “Black Lives Matter” Blvd.  Yeah..no joke.  So, somehow she found the funding, and had a sign made up and everything…because that fit her political agenda.  BUT, taking care of heroes who left their families on a moment’s notice, and flew from their home state to protect the White House, monuments, and have been washing profane graffiti …were kicked to the curb because she doesn’t like the military.  What a nauseating piece of you-know-what.  Kudos to Sens. Lee and Graham for stepping up and making those Guard members are being taken care of.

Gutfeld on conflating protesters with rioters

As New York City burned, Gov. Andy Cuomo said this Tuesday on Twitter: “There are those who want to intentionally blur the lines between peaceful, legitimate protesters and looters. The president is among them. They want you to watch the videos of the looting – not the video of Mr. Floyd being murdered. Don’t fall for it.” So, a governor whose citizens and taxpayers are under attack, claims the biggest problem is witnessing the attack. The mayhem. The looting. Attacks on cops. Because that “blurs the lines between peaceful protests and looters.” I supposed he would prefer him joking around with his brother Chris on CNN again and again. So, who is blurring the lines between protesters and looters? It’s not me. It’s people like him. Because every time you mention the rioters, they accuse you of smearing protesters. We do understand the difference. Does he? Do you remember when you condemned actions of jihadists, and suddenly they accused you of Islamophobia? That when you criticized beheadings that was the same as calling all Muslims “extremists?” That idiotic response revealed who does the blurring. And it’s that blurring that hurts the protest movement. But by exposing the violent mob, you protect the future of legitimate protest. Not doing it, forever links it to destruction and death, while saying or implying that black grievance only matters if it’s expressed violently. That’s nuts. If that’s what you’re saying, Andy, you’re the one sowing discord. You’re the one who left us hanging – sacrificing citizens to the mob – just so we don’t blur any of your precious lines.

Agreed..  Thanks Greg.  That was another “Gregologue,” from yesterday’s (June 4th, 2020) “The Five.”  To watch it, click on the text above.

Gutfeld on the murder of Mr. Dorn

David Dorn spent his last moments on Earth bleeding to death on a sidewalk in front of a looted shop early Tuesday. He was a retired police captain in St. Louis and he was protecting a store. Dorn was 77. His death was shown on Facebook Live. He was a black man. A family man. A good man. Black lives matter. But not to looters, rioters and agitators. Shall we blame this on systemic racism? Who shot David Dorn? Who knows? A stranger? Maybe Seth Rogan or Patton Oswalt already bailed him out. Dorn’s son, Brian Powell said of his father’s death: “It was senseless – over TVs, over stuff that’s replaceable. They’re forgetting the real message for the protest and the positiveness that’s supposed to come out of it and we get this negative light that’s shown on a situation that really needed light to be brought to it.” Dorn’s daughter-in-law, Vanessa Powell, said: “I just hope that the person that did this that they come forth or whatever because this is just so senseless, and I’m just I’m tired of it, I’m tired.” The fact is, fealty to the mob begets only more of the mob. Redefining bloodlust as justified leads to death. And not just David Dorn’s, but a country’s too. A day ago was Blackout Tuesday, when virtue-signalers set their Instagrams to all black to support the protests going on around the country. What an analogy for the media. The media blacks the violence to hide their culpability. Which protects incompetent leaders, criminals and an army of cowardly journalists. Their job: keep the chaos on endless repeat. -Maybe David Dorn’s death can change things. Maybe we can protest loudly in his name and loudly demand action. It’s time, because there’s no Superman coming to save the day for us. There’s no one but us. On CNN, Chris Cuomo said: “Please, show me where it says protesters are supposed to be polite and peaceful. Because I can show you that outraged citizens are the ones who have America what she is and led to any major milestones. Be honest, this is not a tranquil time.” No thanks to Chris Cuomo. As cities are ravaged, he says protests don’t have to be peaceful. Chris, I invite you to meet me in my neighborhood to see what outrage created – the ravaged stores, the dead-eyed looks from people trying to salvage what’s left of their lives. If only they could work in media, and see the silver lining in their ruin. This is not a tranquil time. Thanks for the honesty, Chris.

How sad..  Thanks to Greg Gutfeld for sharing this with us.  That was adapted from his “Gregologue” on June 3rd, 2020 on The Five.  To watch it, click on the text above.  R.I.P Mr. Dorn.
