Nancy Pelosi

Opinion/Analysis: Blue State Blues: Shutdowns Are Different When Republicans Fight Back

Spare, if you will, a moment’s pity for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). They are not exactly enjoying the government shutdown as they might have hoped. Pelosi had already packed her bags and boarded the Air Force bus Thursday, along with a sizable delegation of House Democratic leaders, for her overseas junket. She and her comrades were, no doubt, looking forward to touring NATO’s billion-dollar-plus new headquarters in Brussels; posing for selfies on camelback by the pyramids in Egypt; grinning for photo-ops with the troops in Afghanistan. Then the order came from President Donald Trump to prohibit her use of government aircraft. Fly commercial, he suggested. There is a government shutdown going on, after all. And, as Trump noted, 800,000 federal workers will continue to go unpaid — unless Democrats stay in town to negotiate. The bus went ’round the block and back. Pelosi’s shock must have been quite something to observe. She is not used to being treated like this, you see. She apparently expected she could cancel (ahem, “postpone”) the State of the Union address due to the shutdown — and then disappear abroad. Trump’s response — blocking Pelosi’s use of the aircraft — was gutsy. It was a “drain the swamp” moment. But the timing was pure comedy gold. (Adam Schiff, stepping off the bus, looked like he’d seen a Russian.) In a statement, Pelosi’s spokesman protested that the purpose of the trip had been “to affirm the United States’ ironclad commitment to the NATO alliance,” something the president had already done earlier that day. Her real goal was to conduct an alternative foreign policy — as she did after being elected Speaker in 2007, when she paid a friendly visit to Syrian butcher Bashar al-Assad. Pelosi’s flack complained that President Trump himself had flown to visit the troops in Iraq early in the shutdown. But Trump is the commander-in-chief, and Pelosi is not. How jarring for her to be reminded that although she might pretend the Constitution grants her equal power to the president, only Trump can turn the bus around.

Gutfeld on Trump’s letter to Pelosi

Citing security concerns during the shutdown, Nancy Pelosi has asked Donald Trump to give his State of the Union address in writing. Trump’s response? Canceling her trip to Brussels Thursday night right before takeoff. In the letter he said, he was “sorry to inform her,” that he’s canceling the trip. No, he wasn’t sorry. Not at all! He basically stole her lunch money. And then he ate her lunch. Still, Trump should accept her offer. And send the State of the Union address in writing: a sheet with just two words: Bye bye. Then he should hold a giant event in the middle of America. After all, the people elected Trump, not Washington, D.C. Nancy and the Dems can take shelter under their desks and watch it all on iPads. And Trump can cite his accomplishments, tell some jokes — just so the press has a reason to burn their hair. He can broadcast it on YouTube. The media will cover it in highly flammable fact-checks. It’ll be the first People’s State of the Union! If the media doesn’t show it — then we know it’s personal and political — for this is historical. And hysterical! Cuz what do the Dems do then? Do they not respond when he does it anyway — at a better place, with better-looking people? With music, prizes, farm animals and face painting? And almost no carbon footprint! Think about that! Do they hold a response? With the same cardboard cutouts from before? Nancy just offered Trump an amazing chance. It gets him out of a dull speech — and it gets “The Five” out of going to D.C. – a place with overpriced booze, incompetent politicians and substandard food. Which really, is the whole point of this monologue.

HAHA!!!  That was EXCELLENT!!  Thanks Greg!  Greg Gutfeld currently serves as host of FOX News Channel’s (FNC) The Greg Gutfeld Show (Saturdays 10-11PM/ET) and co-host of The Five (weekdays 5-6PM/ET).    🙂

Pelosi will ‘cut your head off and you won’t even know you’re bleeding,’ daughter says

Nancy Pelosi’s daughter did not mince words Wednesday when she was asked about her mother’s leadership style. “She’ll cut your head off and you won’t even know you’re bleeding,” Alexandra Pelosi bluntly told CNN in an interview Wednesday morning. “That’s all you need to know about her.” Pelosi was asked about her mother’s approach to meetings, ahead of a highly anticipated briefing with President Trump and other top congressional leaders scheduled for Wednesday afternoon in the White House Situation Room. The meeting comes a day before Democrats reclaim the House majority, with Nancy Pelosi expected to ascend once again to speaker.

Wow…  And this is coming from her own daughter.  Get ready for a crazy couple of years, folks.

House Dem torches Pelosi as ‘aloof, frenetic and misguided’ as he calls for her replacement

A Democratic congressman from New York state torched Nancy Pelosi this week, calling her “aloof, frenetic and misguided,” as he joined a growing group of rebel Democrats who say they won’t back the Californian for another term as the party’s leader in the House. U.S. Rep. Brian Higgins, from the Buffalo area, told the Buffalo News that Pelosi has shown a lack of leadership and failed to produce an alternative to President Trump’s agenda, such as pursuing a Medicare expansion or an investment in infrastructure. “I will not support her,” Higgins said in the interview. “She’s listening, but this is my conclusion: She’s aloof, frenetic and misguided. “I’m giving voice to a frustration that I hear every single day,” he added, referring to other House Democrats. “I don’t want to call anybody out. But this is the conversation that is taking place.” Pelosi responded to Higgins’ criticism, saying his concerns were largely based on their disagreement regarding his bill that would expand Medicare to people aged 50 to 64. The New Yorker’s comments about Pelosi came as multiple prospective candidates and sitting members of Congress expressed concerns about their 78-year-old leader, who was House speaker for four years before becoming minority leader in 2011. Clarke Tucker, a Democrat running for a congressional seat held by Republicans in Arkansas, released a new ad this week in which he distanced himself from Pelosi, saying he won’t back her if elected. The video follows relentless GOP attacks trying to link him with Pelosi. “[Republican Congressman French Hill] opened his campaign by attacking me, knowing full well that I’ve said from day one that I won’t vote for Nancy Pelosi. We’re better than that,” Tucker says in the ad. U.S. House Rep. Conor Lamb from Pennsylvania, who won a special election in March in a historically GOP district that Trump had won by nearly 20 points, also said he won’t vote for Pelosi and campaigned as a moderate Democrat. Higgins remains particularly concerned about the party’s ability to come up with policies that could persuade the traditional Democratic voters, who supported Trump in 2016, to come back to the Democratic Party. “Our leadership is out of touch with what is going on, not only in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan but in Cheektowaga, West Seneca, Hamburg, Orchard Park and Lancaster,” he told the newspaper, mentioning the states and municipalities Trump won in the presidential election. He adds that the party needs a clearer vision, a stronger leader and offer more than just opposition to the White House if the party wants to retake the control after the midterm elections. “The only thing I have is a voice and a vote, and I have to use that to try to get my conference to recognize that resistance to Trump at best is only half of it,” he said. “We have to offer something affirmative.” Speaking of 2020, the Democrat remained skeptical. “We are not ready for 2020. We’re lacking a clear, coherent and compelling narrative,” he said. One reason why the party isn’t yet ready to challenge Trump, according to Higgins, is the leader of the House. “When she’s on the floor, she’s all over the place; she’s frenetic,” he said of Pelosi. “I think she lacks gravitas.”

That’s being nice..  Definitely something to keep an eye on.  Congressman Higgins isn’t the only Dem in the House who has had enough of ol’ Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who has been a total disaster for her party.

Nancy Pelosi: We’re Raising Taxes When We Win

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Thursday that Democrats would raise taxes if they win the 2018 midterm elections. Or, as she put it: tax cuts will be “revised.” Bloomberg News reports that Pelosi continues to disparage President Donald Trump’s tax cut, which she once called “crumbs“: “The tax bill is a dark cloud over our children’s future,” the California Democrat said Thursday at the Peterson Foundation Fiscal Summit in Washington. “We want to revisit in a way that puts the middle class first and reduces the debt.” Pelosi said she would seek to negotiate a bipartisan extension of the tax bill’s middle-class tax cuts for individuals, which expire in 2026. The new tax bill would be one that “promotes growth, generates jobs and reduces the deficit,” she said. Pelosi didn’t say whether she would seek to raise the corporate rate — which was cut to 21 percent from 35 percent — and didn’t specify other tax breaks she would seek to end. Recently, Pelosi confirmed that she intends to return to the Speaker’s chair if Democrats win the House back in the November elections. She was the first female Speaker of the House from 2007 to 2011, but led her party to historic defeat after she pushed through the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, in 2010. Pelosi is characterizing Democrats’ current tax plan as a way to reduce the federal deficit. However, federal deficits exploded on her watch as Speaker, even though she promised “no new deficit spending.” The national debt also rose $5 trillion during that period, thanks largely to Democrats’ heavy spending.

Exactly!!  That is why we must do everything we can to ensure that the Dems do NOT take control of the House in the midterms.  That would be a disaster..

Pelosi Heckled While Criticizing Tax Cuts: ‘How Much Are You Worth Nancy?’

Tuesday in Phoenix at a town hall, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was heckled while discussing her opposition to the Republican tax cuts. Pelosi said, “These are kitchen table issues for many of America’s families. Most people are not in deadening poverty, but some are. Most people have to struggle to make ends —” A woman yelled, “How much are you worth, Nancy?” Pelosi responded, “No, we’re not talking about that. So in any event — I can — you know I’m a mother of five I can now speak louder than anybody.”

Huh?  Nancy really isn’t very good at handling questions like that.  She has her talking points, and that’s it.  But, in this case, it’s also because this heckler is calling her out on her brazen hypocrisy.  Nancy is one to play the class warfare card at any opportunity.  Yet, her personal net worth is over $30 MILLION…and that’s before you add her hubby’s dinero, and he’s a successful businessman.  Ohh…and she’s been in Congress over 30 years.  So, let’s not forget her 6 figure pension she’ll receive for the rest of her life.  Nancy is among most wealthy members of Congress and yet she makes a career going after “the rich.”  What a hypocrite!!  Kudos to this heckler.  More people need to all out Nancy on her self-righteous, sanctimonious, self-serving hypocrisy.

Analysis: Pelosi Invokes Catholic Faith to Defend Illegals, But Not to Protect Unborn, Nuns

Wednesday, during her House filibuster in support of protecting people illegally in the U.S., particular minors (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or “DACA”), Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) invoked her Catholic faith: “Maybe I should bring my rosary blessed by the pope… his holiness, Pope Francis, or the one before that, Benedict,” she added. “I have the honor and privilege of receiving rosaries blessed by several popes in my lifetime.” She goes on to quote Pope Benedict and Saint Augustine on just government and the dangers of power. But, Pelosi has a long history of rejecting Catholic Church doctrine when it comes to issues like abortion and protection of the unborn. Pelosi has been repeatedly rebuked by bishops, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and Catholic groups like the Catholic League for her pro-abortion stance. She has returned fire, calling bishops “lobbyists” – because they opposed an Obamacare mandate that violates Catholic teaching – and she has taken on nuns (The Little Sisters of the Poor) who sued to protect their religious freedom. Pelosi isn’t the only professed Catholic member of Congress to be publicly rebuked by Catholic clergy for supporting abortion. After 14 senators claiming to be Catholic voted against a bill to ban late-term abortion, Father Dwight Longnecker called on bishops across the nation to publicly inform those senators that they have excommunicated themselves.Wednesday, during her House filibuster in support of protecting people illegally in the U.S., particular minors (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or “DACA”), Rep. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is a nauseating, self-righteous, self-serving hypocrite cherry picks where her alleged faith serves her political needs, and when it doesn’t.  Kudos to author Craig Bannister for correctly calling her out.  And hey..  if only she stood in heels for 8 hours in defense of actual U.S. citizens, instead of illegal aliens, we might be inclined to overlook her brazen hypocrisy.  For more, click on the text above.  Excellent!   🙂
