Mount Rushmore

CNN Praised Mt. Rushmore When Obama Visited; Attacks When Trump Visits

CNN described Mount Rushmore as a “monument of two slave owners” on “land wrestled [sic] away from Native Americans” ahead of President Donald Trump’s visit there on Friday. But in 2008, CNN marveled at the landmark when then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) visited Rushmore on the campaign trail. In 2008, CNN anchor Ron Marciano said: “Barack Obama is campaigning in South Dakota. That state’s primary is Tuesday. Obama arrived there late last night and got a good look around Mt. Rushmore — it’s quite a sight if you haven’t seen it.” Fellow anchor Betty Nguyen added: “Barack Obama is in South Dakota today. He arrived there last night. Take a look at this. He got a good glimpse of the majestic Mount Rushmore. Well, South Dakota and Montana have closed out the primary season on Tuesday.” But on Friday, CNN described Rushmore in less glowing terms. Senior Washington correspondent Joe Johns said: ” [A]t a time of racial unease, when protesters are tearing down statues of slaveholders and calling for the names of Confederate generals to be removed from army bases, the Rushmore event is a reminder that Trump is fighting to preserve these relics of heritage and history that some see as symbols of oppression. And to indigenous people, Mt. Rushmore, with four white presidents, two of whom were slave owners, is one of those symbols.” CNN interviewed Sioux Falls Argus Leader columnist Stu Whitney, who said: ” I think that is a source of concern for people that see this certainly within a state with a Native American population nearly 10 percent and much higher in Rapid City, concerned about a place that has a lot of spiritual significance, And historical significance when you look at what they and most historians consider to be broken promises and broken treaties.” CNN correspondent Leyla Santiago reported on The Lead with Jake Tapper: “President Trump will be at Mt. Rushmore where he’ll be standing in front of a monument of two slave owners and on land wrestled away from Native Americans told that be focusing on the effort to, quote, tear down our country’s history.”

As many of you know..  One thing we love to do here at The Daily Buzz is to shine a bright light on the hypocrisy of the dominantly liberal mainstream media.  And, as usual, CNN makes it way too easy.  Their hypocrisy and spin in how they report the same event when it’s a Democrat candidate versus a Republican candidate is breathtaking and brazen.  CNN, like MSNBC, are simply propaganda machines for the DNC and Democratic politicians.  Not convinced?  Then click on the text above for more of this article which includes CNN Tweets and more…and you be the judge.

Poll: 3-in-4 Voters, Majority of Black Americans Oppose Tearing Down Mount Rushmore

The overwhelming majority of likely U.S. voters, including a majority of black Americans, oppose the tearing down of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial featuring Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln, a poll finds. While rioters, as well as some Republican and Democrat lawmakers, have sought to remove monuments, statues, and flags associated with the Civil War and the nation’s presidents, the overwhelming majority of Americans say they are opposed to such plans. The latest Rasmussen Reports survey finds 75 percent of likely U.S. voters oppose closing or changing Mt. Rushmore in Keystone, South Dakota. Less than 20 percent said they support the removal of Mt. Rushmore. By a 56-percent majority, black Americans said they oppose tearing down Mt. Rushmore, while only about 35 percent said they support removing the monument. Likewise, more than six-in-ten Democrats, 76 percent of swing voters, 82 percent of white Americans, and 88 percent of Republican voters said they oppose tearing down Mt. Rushmore. The Rasmussen Reports survey also asked likely voters if they opposed or supported removing statues in honor of Presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson from public places. More than 70 percent of all likely voters said they opposed tearing down statues dedicated to the two men. Majorities in every racial, income, age, gender, political, and educational attainment group said they oppose tearing down statues and buildings honoring Washington and Jefferson — including 54 percent of black Americans, 78 percent of white Americans, 57 percent of Democrats, 83 percent of Republicans, and 75 percent of swing voters. For years, Americans by huge majorities have opposed a post-structuralist agenda to tear down and remake the nation’s historical monuments and statues. In a 2017 Rasmussen Reports survey, nearly 90 percent of Americans said they oppose tearing down monuments honoring former presidents. The poll surveyed 1,000 likely U.S. voters from June 29 to 30 and has a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.

The idea of desecrating, or tearing down, Mount Rushmore is a sentiment held only by these who just hate America in general, and those idiot millennial punks who have been bain-washed by their Marxist teachers into thinking that our history is evil and racist all around…and who never were really taught American civics in school.  Glad the silent majority is still opposed to tearing down our history.  But, that silent majority now more than ever needs to stand up and fight back against these punks who are trying to tear our country down.

How Mount Rushmore came to be

Did you know Mount Rushmore was built to increase tourism to South Dakota? And in a state with less than a million people, the Mount Rushmore National Memorial had 2.3 million visitors in 2018 who spent an estimated $136 million in the local community of Keystone, according to the latest figures from the National Park Service. “It’s amazing to think that this awe-inspiring giant sculpture began with the idea of marking the first 150 years of American nationhood by carving the likenesses of four of our greatest and most indispensable presidents into the side of a mountain, where they could be viewed by many generations and tourists from around the world,” Brian Kilmeade, co-host of “Fox & Friends,” wrote in a op-ed about his Fox Nation series called “What Made America Great.” The iconic American sculpture — with the 60-foot heads of presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln — was created by Gutzon Borglum from 1927 to 1941 with the help of his son, Lincoln. Gutzon Borglum chose the four presidents to represent the nation’s birth, growth, development, and preservation, respectively. Mount Rushmore — named after a New York businessman — was projected to take three years and cost a half million dollars, but because of the Depression, World War II and some bad rock, it took 14 years to finish and cost more than $1 million, the equivalent of $17 million today. Recently, President Trump, who allegedly told South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem it’s his “dream” to have his own face on Mount Rushmore, announced that the annual Independence Day fireworks at the site will be reinstated after a 10-year hiatus over “environmental concerns.”

If you’ve not yet seen Mount Rushmore, put it on your bucket list.  It’s truly magnificent.   🙂

This secret room in Mount Rushmore is having a moment

Abraham Lincoln holds the history of our country’s past. Literally. Tucked inside Lincoln’s frontal lobe in Mount Rushmore in Keystone, South Dakota, is a secret, inaccessible-to-the-public chamber. The vault was designed by the monument’s sculptor, Gutzon Borglum, who envisioned it as a room dedicated to the history of the United States. The National Park Service details that Borglum wanted a written history of America’s greatest historical hits to go along with his four-headed sculpture, including an 800-foot stairway with a large bronze eagle – who’d have a 38-foot wingspan — at the entrance. Above the eagle an inscription would read, “America’s Onward March” and “The Hall of Records.” Carved into the walls would read America’s nine most important events from 1776 to 1906. Busts of famous Americans would line the hall, as well as a list of US contributions to art, science and industry. Unfortunately, Borglum died in 1941 and never saw his vision come to life. But in 1998, monument officials revived Borglum’s dream of the room acting as a vault for America’s history. Today, sculpted into a series of porcelain enamel panels, is the story and history of Mount Rushmore, along with an explanation of why Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln were chosen.

Very cool!!   Almost like another National Treasure movie plot.  If you never been to see Mount Rushmore, put it on your bucket list.   🙂

Woodward envisions ‘Bill, Hillary, Chelsea’ on Mount Rushmore

Famed Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward is very popular on the speaking circuit, not just for his Watergate scalps but also for his stories of interviewing presidents and wannabe presidents. One story in his arsenal is about Hillary Rodham Clinton’s reaction to former President George W. Bush telling Woodward that he doesn’t think about his legacy. “History, we won’t know. We’ll all be dead,” Bush said. Woodward told a National Association of Realtors meeting that Clinton was irked by those words, suggesting she would be more in control of her biography. “George Washington would never think and talk like that. Thomas Jefferson would never think and talk like that. Bill [Clinton] would never think and talk like that,” she told Woodward, smacking her fist into her palm. Woodward’s reaction: “I remember thinking the ‘new Mount Rushmore. Washington, Jefferson, Bill, Hillary, Chelsea.’ You know, you don’t know, we’re all going to be dead.”

How’s that for a terrifying vision?!?  It made me want to vomit! And, that ego-maniac, princess Hillary is wrong about our founders…  Unlike her, they were actually humble.  For example..  Washington was offered the position as King of the new America.  He turned it down.  After all, he had just fought over the idea of monarch control.  Then, there was an effort to make him our nation’s first President.  He rejected that idea initially as well.  He just wanted to retire after the war to Mount Vernon.  But, after enough pressure, he relented.  Hillary is so full of herself…
