Media Bias

Evening newscasts 150 times more negative toward Trump than Biden, study says

The evening newscasts on ABC, CBS and NBC have been 150 times more negative when covering President Trump compared to presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, according to a new study. The Media Research Center analyzed all statements made by reporters, anchors and nonpartisan sources, such as experts or voters, made on CBS’ “Evening News,” “NBC Nightly News” and ABC’s “World News Tonight” from June 1 through July 31. The findings showed that Biden has received eight positive evaluative statements with only four negative comments made about the former vice president in a two-month period. But when it comes to Trump, the study showed that coverage has been overwhelmingly negative. CBS’ “Evening News,” “NBC Nightly News” and ABC’s “World News Tonight” made a whopping 634 negative evaluative statements about Trump over the same time period, according to the study. The evening newscasts made 34 positive statements about the president over the same time period. The MRC did not include evaluations and comments from partisan sources in the findings. MRC research director Rich Noyes, who conducted the study, feels that “millions of viewers are witnessing the most biased presidential campaign coverage in modern media history.” Noyes noted that ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts focused 512 minutes of airtime on Trump over the two-month sample, which is nine times more than the 58 minutes spent on Biden. While the sitting president receiving much more coverage during a global pandemic doesn’t seem unusual, the tone of the coverage surprised Noyes. “I’ve been studying the news media and elections for more than 35 years. Trust me — there’s never been anything like it,” Noyes wrote. “Do the math, and viewers heard 150 TIMES more negative comments about Trump than Biden. That’s not news reporting — that’s a negative advertising campaign in action.” Trump regularly blasts the mainstream media for what he feels is unfair coverage and recently accused Biden of avoiding tough questions from reporters. “If you consider the evening newscasts a reliable gauge of the liberal media at large (cable news, big newspapers, etc.), it means Biden has enjoyed an army of so-called journalists conducting a massive negative information campaign against his opponent, while he is sheltered from any scrutiny,” Noyes wrote. “Controversies from the spring, such as allegations from former staffer Tara Reade that he sexually assaulted her in the 1990s, completely disappeared from his evening news coverage in June and July,” Noyes added. As a result, Trump said on Monday that he “has no choice” but to campaign during the Democratic National Convention because Biden gets preferential treatment from the media. “We have a guy that doesn’t come out of his basement and the media covers,” Trump said on during a phone interview on “Fox & Friends.” “When they ask me questions, I have these people, there is fire out of their eyes … they’re asking me questions and I see the fire is burning in their eyes,” Trump said. “I look at some of them and say, ‘Boy, how can you have so much hatred?’” Trump then said Biden doesn’t have to deal with the same type of hostility from the press. In fact, the presumptive Democratic nominee doesn’t have to deal with the press at all. “He doesn’t take any questions from reporters,” Trump said. “Here I am getting bombs thrown at me every day by people that are totally, you know, frankly dishonest reporters, they’re espousing the view of the radical left, but here I am, bombs every day … but this guy doesn’t come out of his basement.”

Exactly…  And this was just the big three networks (i.e. ABC, CBS, & NBC).  If you were to do an analysis of CNN and MSNBC, it’d be worse.  Harvard Univ. (a very liberal university, by any measure) did such a study a couple years ago, and found that the coverage CNN, MSNBC and PBS/NPR did of Trump was over 95% negative for all of those news media outlets.  That’s not journalism.  That’s partisan activism on behalf of a certain party (i.e. the Democratic party) and Dem politicians.  And yet, we have idiots like Brian Stelter over at CNN actually saying with a straight face that there isn’t an anti-Trump news networks.  Seriously?!?  That frightening thing, is that he probably, actually believes that.  And, that’s the problem with what we call the dominantly liberal mainstream media (i.e. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, PBS/NPR, the Washington Post, the NY Times, etc).  You cannot get any unbiased news from them…which is why President Trump and others refer to them as ‘fake news.’  We’re just happy to document yet more proof for you.  You’re welcome.      🙂

CNN fact-checker ignores Biden inaccuracies despite vow to report on ‘both sides’

CNN’s “Facts First” mantra doesn’t seem to apply equally to everyone. CNN in-house fact-checker Daniel Dale is quick to point out inaccuracies made by President Trump, but he has virtually ignored the inaccuracies of the presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden despite his previous vow to fact-check 2020 candidates on both sides of the aisle. Dale, who appeared frequently on CNN as the Toronto Star’s Washington bureau chief before officially being hired by the liberal network in 2019, has become a favorite among CNN’s anchors to refute claims Trump made at the latest press briefing or campaign rally. Dale also writes lengthy fact-checking articles for CNN’s website that have been focused almost exclusively on Trump. Back in early March, Dale suggested to CNN media critic Brian Stelter that he would treat the eventual Democratic nominee the same way he treats Trump when a “real” candidate emerged in the Democratic Primary. “All inaccuracy matters,” Dale told the low-rated pundit after fact-checking a rally speech from Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., “Ideally, all politicians would be at zero inaccurate claims per speech.” Dale also claimed that Trump’s inaccurate claims are more egregious than misinformation from Democrats during the interview. “It struck me while doing this checking how different this was than fact-checking a Trump speech. For one, Trump averages 21 false claims per rally by my count and many of those are egregious, total fabrications. He’s making stuff up,” Dale said. “Sanders’ dishonesty, from the extent we had it, was traditional spin. He was stretching a little bit… it’s just no comparison between Trump and anyone in the Democratic field.” “And do you intend to keep doing this for the Democrats all season long?” Stelter asked. “Absolutely,” Dale responded. “Especially once when we have a real Democratic nominee. I plan to count their false claims just as we count Trump’s because it matters for both sides.” While Dale has done plenty of counting of Trump’s false claims, it appears few have been tallied for the former vice president since he became the Democratic frontrunner after Super Tuesday. Since Super Tuesday, Dale has written roughly 30 fact-check reports on President Trump. Meanwhile, Biden was only scrutinized once by the CNN reporter, and it came after the network’s March 16 debate where both he and Sanders were fact-checked for their entire debate performances. Dale wrote 38 pieces fact-checking Trump from Jan. 18 through April 10, and only one for Biden over the same time period. A different CNN reporter, Holmes Lybrand, also did one fact check on Biden’s comments about gun control on March 21. The last time Dale himself fact-checked Biden individually was on Jan. 6 when the former lawmaker repeated his debunked claim that he opposed the Iraq War while in the Senate. Meanwhile, other fact-checkers have been busy with Biden. Biden earned “three Pinocchios” from the Washington Post, was knocked by, and given a “Mostly False” from Politifact over his claim that the Trump administration made “no effort” to send medical experts to China as the coronavirus outbreak began to grow. Biden’s campaign also earned “four Pinocchios” from the Post for claiming that Trump had “silenced” top officials of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Post determined that they falsely “manipulated” Trump’s rhetoric as if he had referred to the coronavirus as a “hoax.” CNN and Dale did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Geee..   What a surprise..  Not!  CNN and MSNBC, among others, should just be honest and straightforward about their liberal leanings.  They have no intention whatsoever of treating Biden the same way they treat Trump.  They should just be up front and honest about it, instead of lying to everyone like Dale has done here.

Analysis: Washington Post Political Reporter Calls Trump Supporters ‘Rubes’

The far-left Washington Post’s Dave Weigel called President Trump’s supporters “rubes” during an appearance on a left-wing podcast. In response, the Post told the Daily Caller, which first reported on the incident, that “We do not think our reporters should be using derogatory terms to characterize anyone [and the] matter is being handled internally.” Weigel appeared on the left-wing podcast Chapo Trap Host and in reference to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) handling of the partial government shutdown and the funding for President Trump’s wall, said that McConnell “is very good at identifying what the rubes want to hear.” McConnell didn’t care about the wall… he’s very good at identifying what the rubes want to hear, because all he cares about is getting enough judges to strike down campaign-finance law, strike down gun law, strike down health care, etc. All of his brilliant tactics are like, ‘What if we don’t have a vote on this? What if we just sit here for two years and don’t have a vote on this?’ On the wall, like, ‘What if we don’t do that? What if we just don’t do that? Everyone go away so I can confirm more judges.” Like much of the establishment media, the anti-Trump Post has increasingly tolerated and even encouraged slurs against those on the political right, most especially President Trump and his supporters. Earlier this month, the Post published a column arguing it was okay to call Trump a “motherfucker” and even after the boys from Covington Catholic High School were vindicated by uncut video, the Post continues to publish smears about these kids, who are guilty of nothing more than being white, Christian Trump supporters. The Post has also openly called for the harassment of Trump supporters, up to and including violence. Back in July, the Post’s Jennifer Rubin publicly called for the public harassment of White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders. In June, the increasingly unhinged Post published a story advocating for the universal hatred of all men and attempted to blame Trump for creating a hurricane. The Post has also published call for violence against the political right, as we saw in a piece published in mid-2017. The Post was already aware of Weigel’s long history of smearing the political right. He was forced to resign from the Post for exactly that back in 2010. The Post rehired him a few years later, and now, here he is, back to doing it again when he believes no one is looking. But there will be no repercussions this time. Compared to the open calls for hate, harassment, and violence the Post is publishing and spreading nowadays, Weigel’s elite biases seem pretty tame.

Agreed…  Thanks to John Nolte for that excellent analysis exposing the extreme liberal bias of the Washington Post, and Dave Weigel.  The Washington Post has been a key member of the dominantly liberal mainstream media.  But, they’ve gone WAY off the deep end since Trump became president.  And, their arrogant elitism is SO offensive.  Keep in mind, if you’re a Trump supporter, or voted for him..  Dave just called you a “rube” which is basically calling you an uneducated, country hick…and he’s looking down his nose at you.  What a self-righteous, arrogant, elitist, prick.

Analysis: After Slamming Trump’s Alleged Stormy Affair, CNN Declares JFK’s Serial-Adultery ‘Legendary’

The same CNN launching puritanical attacks against President Donald Trump over a disputed one-night stand with a porn star over a decade ago is now glorifying John F. Kennedy’s serial-adultery as “legendary.” Fox News reports that CNN promoted its documentary The Kennedy’s by “hail[ing] the 35th president’s ‘legendary love life,’ before asking, ‘Did one of his affairs connect him with the mob?’” Obviously, the far-left cable channel is once again revealing its partisan double standard. Twenty-five years ago, CNN worked overtime to earn the nickname “Clinton News Network” over its zealous defense of former-President Bill Clinton during the many sex scandals that exploded during his time in office. Clinton had an affair in the Oval Office with a 22-year-old subordinate and was credibly accused of everything from groping to rape. Clinton also settled a sexual harassment lawsuit for $850,000 after Paula Jones accused him of flashing her. Nevertheless, CNN was there to dismiss every accusation and to advance the administration’s personal attacks against his accusers. John Kennedy also had countless adulterous affairs while president, numerous reports say this included a mobster’s girlfriend and Marilyn Monroe, who he reportedly passed off to his brother, Attorney general Bobby Kennedy. Many believe her treatment at the hands of the Kennedy brothers led Monroe to suicide in 1962 at age 36. There are also reports that John Kennedy was a “predator president” who ordered a 19-year-old intern (he had already deflowered in his wife’s White House bedroom) to give his assistant oral sex. For CNN to glorify this kind of compromising, predatory, and destructive behavior “legendary” is something the far-left cable network would only do for a Democrat. A possible one night stand 12 years ago does not even begin to compare with the reckless and immoral behavior of both Clinton and Kennedy, yet the basement-rated place cable channel seeks to protect both Democrats while at the same time seeking to destroy Trump over something that may or may not have happened more than a decade ago. CNN is facing widespread ridicule and criticism over its shameless Kennedy/Trump double standard, which again shows that this last-place news network remains a laughingstock that no one can or should take seriously.

Agreed!  And well said, John.  John Nolte is responsible for that outstanding op/ed exposing the brazen hypocrisy, and double standard by CNN.  One thing we love to do here at The Daily Buzz is to expose the hypocrisy of the dominantly liberal mainstream media.

ABC skips coverage of Nancy Pelosi protesters

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was interrupted in spectacular fashion during a San Francisco press conference Monday by an angry group of immigration activists. But one of the Big Three broadcast networks decided to completely ignore the scene, despite a history of covering similar anti-Trump interruptions. The dependably liberal ABC’s “World News Tonight” skipped the story, while rivals CBS and NBC properly covered the event. “NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt called it a “chaotic scene,” while “CBS Evening News” anchor Anthony Mason said Pelosi was “shouted down.” Both of ABC’s rivals aired video of Pelosi’s press conference getting interrupted and covered the story for roughly 30 seconds apiece. So why didn’t ABC’s newscast cover the event? Perhaps the folks at Disney don’t think angry protesters are newsworthy? Not quite. “World News Tonight” has covered a variety of anti-Republican protests, including a montage of demonstrators who were upset that Trump defeated Hillary Clinton on Election Day. ABC News also covered anti-Trump protesters that gathered when members of the Electoral College gathered to make Trump’s victory official last December. In fact, the network covered Trump Tower protesters just last month. ABC News also covered anti-Trump protesters back in 2016 during the GOP primary and essentially blamed Trump when a protesters rushed his stage during a campaign rally. “Donald Trump taking no responsibility for any of it,” ABC News anchor Cecilia Vega said after reporting that Trump supporters and protesters became violent on the campaign trail. This time, ABC skipped an interesting and surprising story. The anti-Pelosi protesters apparently want her to fight for “all 11 million” undocumented immigrants, as opposed to just “dreamers.” They are upset that she has the audacity to negotiate with President Trump to save the DACA program. Pelosi fired back as she was being interrupted, asking if they “actually want to hear an answer” or if they simply want to “shout.” The crowd decided to shout, calling her a “liar” and holding signs that said, “Democrats are Deporters.” ABC has been accused of bias several times in recent political history. Recent examples include President Trump accusing ABC anchor Martha Raddatz of crying on Election Night after he won, which the veteran journalist denied. The network’s chief anchor, former Bill Clinton communications director George Stephanopoulos, did not disclose a substantial donation to Clinton’s charitable organization back in 2015. ABC executives canceled Tim Allen’s “Last Man Standing” after the star expressed conservative views, although ABC president of Entertainment Channing Dungey told reporters that “politics had absolutely nothing to do with it.” The network also has been criticized for several shows that mock traditional values such as “The Real O’Neals” which made fun of Irish Catholics and “When We Rise” which was widely criticized for portraying Middle America as homophobic. ABC journalist Terry Moran even compared Trump’s inaugural address to Nazi rhetoric. Meanwhile, The Washington Post recently ranked the top 15 possible 2020 Democratic candidates, with Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger as No. 11, ahead of actual politicians such as Tim Kaine and Deval Patrick. ABC News declined comment..

Gee..  What a surprise!  lol   ABC is unabashedly, extremely liberal..  So, their brazenly hypocritical decision not to air that video of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) be verbally assaulted by a mob of illegal aliens shouting her down shows their liberal bias.  If you’ve not seen it, Google it.  It was truly epic, ironic, and worthy of being aired on any news broadcast.  Ol’ Nancy, who is over 76, clearly was flustered and shaking while trying to somehow reassure those losers that she was on their side (which made it ironic).  Had that been a Republican, that video clip would have been EVERYWHERE, and we all know it.  But, ABC decided to look the other way, because it was a Democrat politician being grilled, and humiliated.  Typical liberal media hypocrisy…

Donald Trump on Charlottesville: ‘Fake News Media Will Never Be Satisfied’

President Donald Trump defied the media for continuing to hammer him for failing to immediately condemn alt-right protesters in Charlottesville, asserting that both sides were to blame for the violence. “Made additional remarks on Charlottesville and realize once again that the #Fake News Media will never be satisfied,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Truly bad people!” Trump returned to Washington D.C. on Monday and specifically condemned neo-nazi, KKK, and white supremacist forces that attended the Charlottesville rally, calling them “criminals and thugs” who were “repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.” During an event on China policy, CNN’s Jim Acosta shouted a question to the president asking him why it took him so long to condemn hate groups. “They have been condemned,” Trump replied. “Can we ask you some more questions then, sir?” Acosta added. “It doesn’t bother me at all,” Trump replied, pointing to Acosta. “But I like real news. You’re fake news. You’re fake news.” Other reporters signaled on Twitter and on television that Trump’s statement was too little too late, accusing him of acting insincere. Reporters again shouted questions about why it took him days to denounce hate groups as he left the White House on Monday. Trump gave them a thumbs up and boarded Marine One to leave the White House.

This disingenuous, hypocritical, and self-righteous indignation by the dominantly liberal mainstream about how long it took for Trump to denounce certain groups like Neo-Nazis is beyond ridiculous.  Where were they when socialist, liberal (mostly black) hate groups like Black Lives Matter (BLM), and so on were burning down Ferguson, MO, etc?  Did Jim go after Obama when those events took place, and Obama not only didn’t condemn those groups, he sided with them oftentimes!!  No.  Of course he didn’t.  The hypocrisy and duplicity is truly breathtaking.  As we’ve already documented here at The Daily Buzz, there were fringe groups on BOTH sides who were at fault in the violence in VA over the weekend.  It was NOT just one side.  So, Trump was initially correct in NOT taking a side.  But, unfortunately, he caved to the pressure from politicians on both sides and the self-righteous media and named names.  He shouldn’t have.  And, he’s starting to realize that no matter what he does, it’ll never be enough. If Trump  found the cure for cancer, it wouldn’t be enough for the “Never Trump” crowd.  So, he shouldn’t try to pacify them…and instead just stay the course.

Opinion: Trump Was Right to Condemn Violence on ‘Many Sides’ in Charlottesville

President Donald Trump reacted to Saturday’s violence in Charlottesville by condemning violence “on many sides.” His critics pounced, saying that he should have specifically condemned violence by white supremacists, and that by not doing so, he in fact condoned such violence. The critics are guilty of a double standard, and of exploiting the violence for political gain, widening America’s divisions at a time when national unity is the only proper course. First of all, as a factual matter, it is self-evident that there was violence on both sides on Saturday, though the attack in which a car plowed into a crowd of left-wing protesters stands apart as a despicable act. Two groups who have been fighting all over the country — white supremacists and so-called “anti-fascists” — went to Charlottesville to do the same, just as they did last summer in Sacramento, and just as they have elsewhere. Condemning one side alone would essentially have given the other side a pass for its tactics — and a political victory that neither deserved. Second, Trump’s critics never applied the same standard to Barack Obama. When five Dallas police officers were murdered in cold blood at a Black Lives Matter protest, Obama did not disavow the movement, nor did the media demand he do so. On the contrary, when he spoke at a memorial service for the police, he actually endorsed the movement and its goals: “I understand these protests — I see them. They can be messy. Sometimes they can be hijacked by an irresponsible few. Police can get hurt. Protesters can get hurt. They can be frustrated. But even those who dislike the phrase “black lives matter,” surely, we should be able to hear the pain of Alton Sterling’s family. … With an open heart, we can worry less about which side has been wronged, and worry more about joining sides to do right.”(Alton Sterling was shot by officers in Baton Rouge; he was armed and had allegedly threatened someone with a gun.) When presented with an opportunity to disavow his racist pastor, Jeremiah Wright, then-candidate Obama gave an entire speech about how he could not do so: “I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother.” The media swooned and compared him to Abraham Lincoln. (He eventually disavowed Wright — but only after a substitute preacher, Michael Pfleger, attacked Hillary Clinton from the pulpit, at a time when Obama needed to consolidate Clinton supporters for the general election.) Third, many of those attacking Trump today did not make the same demand of Democrats just two months ago, when five Republicans were shot and wounded by a left-wing gunman in Alexandria. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) even managed to blame Republicans for the shooting by allegedly inflaming political rhetoric during the Bill Clinton era. Fourth, the media and the Democrats blame Trump for violence even when he, and his supporters are the target of that violence. Last June in San Jose, California, Trump supporters were viciously attacked by left-wing thugs as they left a rally. Some media reported the riot as if Trump supporters had started the violence (“Trump supporters clash with protesters“), while Democrat Mayor Sam Liccardo blamed Trump and his campaign for what happened. Finally, the claim that Trump has failed to disavow white supremacists is a lie repeated from the 2016 campaign, when the media ignored Trump’s prior rejections of the Ku Klux Klan and claimed he had failed to denounce them. Trump even denounced racism earlier this year, in his address to Congress: ” Tonight, as we mark the conclusion of our celebration of Black History Month, we are reminded of our Nation’s path toward civil rights and the work that still remains. Recent threats targeting Jewish Community Centers and vandalism of Jewish cemeteries, as well as last week’s shooting in Kansas City, remind us that while we may be a Nation divided on policies, we are a country that stands united in condemning hate and evil in all its forms.” The purpose of the lie is to connect Trump to white supremacists by implying that he has something to disavow. Many of Trump’s critics compounded that lie Saturday by recycling false claims about members of his staff. Trump’s critics are guilty of something worse than hypocrisy. They are trying to divide the country when the right thing to do is to stress common bonds, as Republicans did in June, though they were the targets. Trump’s critics tried the same tactics in 2016, and all they achieved was more hatred. It is well past time for the slander to stop.

When I first turned on the news and first learned of this event, the very first photo I saw was some white guy with a flag rolled up on its pole confronting a black guy who had turned some aerosol can into a torch and blasting a firey flame toward the white guy.  On it’s face, it wasn’t clear who was the instigator and who as the one fighting back.  But, what WAS clear, was that there were two sides; NOT just one side.  And, to suggest otherwise is disingenuous, hypocritical, and self-serving.  But, that’s par for the course for these self-righteous, sanctimonious, agenda-driven liberals in the media and elsewhere.  What started as a perfectly reasonable rally to counter the historical fascism of the left who continue to want to erase our history, turned into an ugly scene culminating in some lunatic driving his car through a crown killing an innocent woman.  That Hitler-loving loser should be put down like the dog he is.  BUT, Trump is exactly right.  There were elements on BOTH sides who escalated the situation and took advantage of the opportunity to further THEIR respective agendas.  Yeah, the Nazis and so on were there.  But, the Black Lives Matter (BLM) thugs were there with their baseball bats as well, lookin for a fight.  BOTH were at fault.  So, kudos to Trump for NOT playing the race card to further some self-serving agenda like Obama was notorious for doing.  Thanks to Joel B. Pollak for that outstanding op/ed.

Study: Media Coverage of Trump’s First 100 Days Set ‘New Standard For Negativity’

A Harvard study has documented the mainstream media’s blatant anti-Trump bias and found that while the President dominated news coverage in his first 100 days, that coverage was almost entirely negative — with 93 percent of CNN and NBC’s Trump coverage critical of the new president. The study, by the Harvard Kennedy School’s Shorenstein Center, released Thursday concludes that Trump’s coverage “set a new standard for negativity.” Looking at the coverage of President Trump’s first 100 days from 10 major American and European outlets, the study found that Trump was the topic of 41 percent of all news stories — three times that of previous presidents. It also found that Trump was the featured speaker of 65 percent of the coverage. But, despite Trump featuring heavily, the tone of that coverage was 80 percent negative, according to the study. For comparison, it found that President Barack Obama received only 41 percent negative coverage in his first 100 days. President George W. Bush received 57 percent negative coverage, and President Bill Clinton received 60 percent negative coverage. “In no week did the [Trump] coverage drop below 70 percent negative and it reached 90 percent negative at its peak,” the study says, noting the peak of the negative coverage came during the attempt by the House of Representatives to pass a health care bill. Some outlets’ coverage was particularly blatant. While the Washington Post and the New York Times covered Trump negatively 83 and 87 percent of the time, an overwhelming 93 percent of NBC’s and CNN’s news reports were negative. The only outlet that came close to fairness was Fox News, where 52 percent of its reports were negative. The only other outlet nearing Fox’s balance was the Wall Street Journal, of which 70 percent of its news reports were negative. “Trump has received unsparing coverage for most weeks of his presidency, without a single major topic where Trump’s coverage, on balance, was more positive than negative, setting a new standard for unfavorable press coverage of a president,” the authors of the study wrote. Even by topic, the study found that there wasn’t a single topic where Trump’s coverage was more positive than negative, with 96 percent of stories on immigration, 87 percent of health care stories and 81 percent of stories on Trump’s fitness for office all carrying a negative tone. Only on the economy did the media coverage approach balance, with 46 percent of those reports carrying a positive tone. The study also warns that such negative coverage may not only be harmful to Trump, but also for the way the public view the media. “The nation’s watchdog has lost much of its bite and won’t regain it until the public perceives it as an impartial broker, applying the same reporting standards to both parties,” the study concludes.

Yeah…  Imagine that!  And this is coming from Harvard; not exactly a bastion of conservatism.  Please pass this along to all of your friends and family members who may still think that the dominantly liberal mainstream media (i.e. ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR/PBS, CNN, the NY Times, Washington Post..and the worst of all MSNBC) have any degree of balance whatsoever.  This study destroys that silly notion.

Tennessee KKK Leaders Allege Producers Paid Them to Fake Scenes in Canceled A&E Documentary

The subjects of a TV documentary series about the Ku Klux Klan abruptly canceled last week by A&E allege to Variety that significant portions of what was filmed were fabricated by the producers. Some KKK leaders divulged that they were paid hundreds of dollars in cash each day of filming to compel them on camera to distort the facts of their lives to fit the documentary’s predetermined narrative: tension between Klan members and relatives of theirs who wanted to get out of the Klan. The findings are based on an exclusive Variety investigation based on interviews with over two dozen individuals in and around the KKK who cooperated with the documentary in at least six U.S. states. Originally scheduled to air Jan. 10, “Escaping the KKK: A Documentary Series Exposing Hate in America” was produced by Venice, Calif.-based production company This Is Just a Test. The KKK leaders who were interviewed by Variety detailed how they were wooed with promises the program would capture the truth about life in the organization; encouraged not to file taxes on cash payments for agreeing to participate in the filming; presented with pre-scripted fictional story scenarios; instructed what to say on camera; asked to misrepresent their actual identities, motivations and relationships with others, and re-enacted camera shoots repeatedly until the production team was satisfied. The production team even paid for material and equipment to construct and burn wooden crosses and Nazi swastikas, according to multiple sources including Richard Nichols, who is one of the featured subjects of the documentary series as the Grand Dragon of a KKK cell known as the Tennessee White Knights of the Invisible Empire. He also said he was encouraged by a producer to use the epithet “nigger” in interviews. “We were betrayed by the producers and A&E,” said Nichols. “It was all made up—pretty much everything we said and did was fake and because that is what the film people told us to do and say.” Asked about allegations, a rep for A&E declined comment beyond issuing a statement that made clear the company is going to take the additional step of conducting a probe of the production: “A&E had already made the decision to cancel this documentary series based on recently discovered payment practices of the producers in the field and we are conducting a full independent investigation into the production.” Production company TIJAT also issued a statement in response to the allegations, which suggested participants are being intimidated into tarnishing the show. “We take these allegations very seriously and in partnership with A&E we will be looking into them fully,” a portion of its statement read. “We have been told that participants in the series have received threats and coerced into speaking out against the authenticity of the show.” Led by principals Aengus James and Colin Miller, TIJAT is a prolific producer of unscripted TV series for cable networks such as TLC’s “I Am Jazz” and Animal Planet’s “Project Grizzly,” as well as theatrical documentaries and commercials. TIJAT is currently negotiating with A&E to get the rights back to “Escaping the KKK” with the intent of shopping it to another network. Producers told KKK leaders who participated in the documentary prior to the cancellation that a second season was being discussed with the network. The allegations are in stark contradiction to how the eight-episode series was positioned to the public by both A&E and TIJAT. “This show is not rehearsed or prepackaged,” said Rob Sharenow, executive vice president and general manager of A&E and Lifetime told The Hollywood Reporter on Dec. 19. “These filmmakers knew that they weren’t going in making a reality show, they were making a hard-hitting series about a provocative subject.” The purported quality of the program, originally known as “Generation KKK,” helped draw the support of organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League and Color of Change, which A&E publicized.

..which explains everything.  If the Anti-Defamation League, Color of Change, and other leftist, race-baiting, agenda-driven groups like the NAACP and the discredited Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) supported this project, you know it’s a fraud.  And, now these producers at A&E have also been exposed as frauds.  This takes “fake news” to a whole new low, and does further damage to the discussion on race in this country by feeding a false and fabricated narrative.  Shame on all involved.

Florida newspaper apologizes for anti-Donald Trump bias

A Florida daily newspaper is apologizing to readers for not being objective enough in its coverage of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. The Daily Commercial, which serves Lake and Sumter counties, recently issued a “mea culpa” admitting that it hadn’t taken a balanced-enough approach to the 2016 presidential election. “Because we have limited space and resources, smaller papers are generally limited to covering the horse race — the day in-day out happenings on the campaign trail,” the paper explained in an open letter. “Trump, who has been a big personality since he burst onto the scene as a major New York developer in the 1980s, could never seem to stay focused on his message — immigration, American jobs, international relations,” it continued. “He instead has devoted so much of his air time to saying outlandish things and picking fights with anyone, even his own party, who disagreed with him. He has demonized Republicans and the media, and then he wonders aloud why so many people and institutions have turned their backs on him. “In short, he has been his own worst enemy by creating daily controversies with his words and actions instead of dominating the news cycle with the message that got him this far,” the paper said. “Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton has been bland on the campaign trail, not giving the media anything to latch onto.” The Daily Commercial said the media have undoubtedly been biased toward Mr. Trump, and that bias had trickled down to their paper. “Trump’s every utterance, no matter how innocuous, is now parsed, analyzed and criticized by a litany of political pundits,” the letter continued. “The wire services that the Daily Commercial subscribes to churn out stories almost daily that fact check Trump, which is warranted given his penchant for exaggeration and duplicity. Yet those same services turn out so few stories that fact check Clinton, who also has a strained relationship with the truth. “And while hundreds of stories have attempted to shed light on Trump’s feelings about women, minorities, his business dealings, his taxes and more, so little has been written about some of Clinton’s questionable decisions as secretary of state, her emails and the fact that she and Bill have somehow amassed incredible wealth during their political careers. That certainly deserves scrutiny,” it said. The paper admitted that it hadn’t done “enough to mitigate the anti-Trump wave in the pages of this paper.” “To be clear, this is not an endorsement of Trump, a candidate whose brutish, sometimes childish antics are responsible for his sizable deficit in the polls. Rather, it is a recognition that you, the voter, deserve better than we in the media have given you,” the letter said. “You deserve a more balanced approach to the coverage of elections and other weighty issues.” Comments on the letter were largely negative, particularly from Mr. Trump’s supporters. Some commenters said the explanation was too little, too late, while others vowed to boycott the publication.

In the 11th hour this little liberal paper in Florida is at least being somewhat honest about its clear bias.  Let’s see if a major organ of the dominantly liberal mainstream media (i.e.  NY Times, Washington Post, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, PBS, NPR, LA Times, and on and on) does something similar.  Don’t hold your breath..
