Tom Cotton, Marsha Blackburn Plan Ends China-to-U.S. Student Visa Pipeline

Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) are looking to end China’s pipeline of foreign students to fill spots at American universities and take American STEM jobs. In the wake of the Chinese coronavirus crisis, Cotton and Blackburn — as well as Rep. David Kustoff (R-TN) in the House — have filed legislation called the SECURE CAMPUS Act that ends the China-to-United States pipeline of Chinese nationals receiving student visas for STEM fields. “The Chinese Communist Party has long used American universities to conduct espionage on the United States,” Cotton said in a statement. “What’s worse is that their efforts exploit gaps in current law. It’s time for that to end.” In short, Cotton and Blackburn’s plan would: Ban Chinese nationals from receiving student visas to the U.S. for STEM fields Ban Chinese nationals from working on federal R&D grants in STEM fields Require universities, labs, and research institutes recieving federal taxpayer money to confirm that they will not knowingly employ participants in China’s foreign talent recruitment programs Require China’s foreign talent recruitment program participants to register as foreign agents Require the State Department to publish a list of China’s foreign talent recruitment programs Blackburn said in a statement: ” Beijing exploits student and research visas to steal science, technology, engineering, and manufacturing secrets from U.S. academic and research institutions. We’ve fed China’s innovation drought with American ingenuity and taxpayer dollars for too long; it’s time to secure the U.S. research enterprise against [China’s] economic espionage.” As Breitbart News has chronicled, the U.S. legal immigration system remains hugely beneficial to China. From 2008 to 2018, more than 825,000 Chinese nationals arrived in the U.S. on green cards — an immigration status that provides them with permanent residency, a pathway to American citizenship, and eventually the ability to bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the country through the process known as “chain migration.” There are nearly 500,000 Chinese students in the U.S. in any given year — more than any other country — taking seats in university classrooms and looking to eventually obtain Optional Practical Training (OPT) visas to take entry-level jobs in white-collar professions. In Fiscal Year 2019, alone, Chinese nationals secured about 170,000 F, J, and M visas to arrive in the U.S. as students — more than any other country in the world.

And it needs to end.  It’s ridiculous!  Major kudos to Sens. Cotton and Blackburn for spearheading this effort.  Let’s hope it turns into a bill, and then into law.  Excellent!!    🙂

GOP Rep Blackburn to Dems: Stop Blaming Russia and Realize Voters Didn’t Like Your Candidate

Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” while reacting to the controversy over allegations Russia hacked the 2016 presidential election, Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) said Democrats need to stop trying to justify and “start learning” why they lost, adding their candidate was one “people did not like and didn’t want to vote for.” When asked about Democrats claims the Russian involvement cost Hillary Clinton the election Blackburn said, “I think that is another of their justifications in a long list of justifications of why they lost. And they need to start learning from why they lost. They completely misread the American people. They were out of step, and they had a candidate that the American people did not like and didn’t want to vote for.”

‘Appalling’: Rep seeks HHS probe as emails shed light on abortion clinic harvesting

A fresh trove of documents released by a House panel probing abortion clinics and companies trading in body parts shows the extent of their fetal tissue harvesting operation — and what the committee’s chairwoman alleges are violations of the law. Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., head of the House Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives, is now making a fresh request for a federal probe. “I believe the investigation will move forward because this is so appalling,” she told One of the more striking exchanges was contained in a set of January 2015 emails. When a customer inquired with company StemExpress about the availability of aborted tissue, an employee promptly emailed back seemingly while an abortion was under way: “There is one case currently in the room, I will let you know how the limbs and calvarium [skull] look to see if you are able to take them in about fifteen minutes.” Less than an hour later, the employee reported, “the calvarium is mostly intact,” while “the limbs … are totally intact.” The House committee for months has been probing whether abortion clinics and companies buying and selling body parts in exchanges like this were profiting – which, if so, would be a felony under a law signed by President Bill Clinton. StemExpress, which worked with Planned Parenthood, is a California-based company that procures body parts and fetal tissue and sells to researchers. “What we have seen is how this has moved to a business and contractual agreements,” Blackburn said. Blackburn claims it appears some technicians even reviewed medical files without initial permission from patients. She has asked the Department of Health and Human Services to probe whether StemExpress and three California abortion clinics might have shared so much information that federal privacy law and research regulations were violated. The three clinics under review that contracted with StemExpress are Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, which says it has more than 30 centers throughout California and Nevada; Planned Parenthood Shasta Pacific; and Family Planning Specialist Medical Group. The select panel was appointed after undercover videos seemingly showed Planned Parenthood staff trying to sell aborted baby body parts. Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, who addressed the Planned Parenthood Action Fund in Washington Friday, has adamantly defended the group against allegations of wrongdoing. Democrats have criticized the investigation and recently said the panel is putting people in danger.

Soo..  Let me get his straight..  Hillary, and the rest of her fascist Democrat supporters, believe that looking into this seemingly barbaric situation is “putting people in danger.”  Huh?  How’s that?  It’s all smoke and mirrors, of course.  Hillary and these other Dems get a LOT of money from Planned Parenthood (which gets a lot of money from we-the-taxpayers), and these other abortion providers.  So they feel obligated to come to PP’s defense, and they use code words like “women’s healthcare.”  To them, if you are investigating PP, you are a mean insensitive Republican who is putting women at risk, and so on.  It’s the same old vomit-worthy talking points from the same old play book that the Dems play over and over and over.  This isn’t about whether or not abortion should be legal.  For the record, we believe it SHOULD be legal, subject to common sense restrictions and regulations.  And yet, that is exactly the veiled argument that Hillary and the rest of these sleazy Dems are suggesting to cloud the discussion.  What some of these clinics, and StemExpress, are doing is beyond barbaric.  So, kudos to Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and her committee for looking into this horrifying, and barbaric, underground cottage industry.  Anyway, to read the rest of this disturbing article, click on the text above.

Opinion: Hillary Clinton — Untrustworthy and Ineffective

Constituents in my congressional district routinely ask me about the chances of Hillary Clinton being elected President. Hard-working Tennesseans are gravely concerned about what another four years of Obama-like policies will do to our country. They know America is headed in the wrong direction. However, I am convinced that Hillary Clinton will not be elected because she is untrustworthy and ineffective. Fifty-seven percent of the American people do not believe Hillary Clinton is trustworthy according to an ABC-Washington Post poll conducted in March. The fog of Clinton scandals has eroded public trust in the former Secretary of State and it is the latest one which I find the most appalling. The State Department Office of Inspector General (OIG) provided another reminder of Secretary Clinton’s lack of honesty last week by issuing a scathing report detailing her illegal use of a private email server to conduct official government business. Even the liberal Huffington Post was prompted to run a piece titled “State Department Report Justifies Indictments for Hillary Clinton. Democrats Need Bernie Sanders.” The OIG’s report clearly states that Secretary Clinton circumvented the Federal Records Act and failed to comply with Departmental policies. Page 38 of the report notes that an email between Clinton and aide Huma Abedin revealed that Secretary Clinton used her home brew server not for “convenience,” as she initially proclaimed, but to avoid having her emails made public. Further, the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) and the Bureau of Information Resource Management (IRM) are the two entities at the State Department responsible “for ensuring the security of Department electronic information.” The report’s Cybersecurity section notes that “DS and IRM did not – and would not – approve her exclusive reliance on a personal email account to conduct Department business.” Secretary Clinton’s self-serving conduct callously placed the interests of American foreign policy a distant second to her own and likely compromised sensitive national security information. For example, the OIG’s report states that the Secretary’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations was notified by an advisor to President Clinton on January 9, 2011, that the private email server may have been hacked twice that day. The advisor to President Clinton wrote, “We were attacked again so I shut [the server] down for a few min.” Rather than report a possible breach of a server containing troves of national security information, the Clinton team treated cyber attacks like a 3rd grader whose computer freezes up in class. In addition to being deceptive, Hillary Clinton was also ineffective as Secretary of State. The Obama/Clinton foreign policy helped produce the Arab spring, a reckless intervention in Libya, the rise of ISIS, a dangerous Russia Reset, and Chinese military expansion in the South China Sea. On August 28, 2009, the Washington Times noted that the Administration was sacrificing European missile defense as part of planned concessions to Russia in order to secure the Kremlin’s assistance in deterring Iran’s nuclear ambitions. The Times added that Secretary Clinton promised to deploy a “security umbrella” against Iranian nuclear aggression, but that “Mrs. Clinton’s promises are less credible if the United States is simultaneously opening and closing the defense umbrella.” This severe diplomatic miscalculation provided an early example of the type of “leading from behind” that has left our allies feeling betrayed and enemies emboldened. Ironically, it was Secretary Clinton who once questioned then-candidate Obama’s experience by running a campaign ad of her receiving a 3 a.m. phone call with the question “Who do you want answering the phone?” Secretary Clinton got that call on the night Ambassador Christopher Stevens was murdered during an obvious terror attack in Benghazi on the anniversary of 9-11. She never picked up. Secretary Clinton was present as Ambassador Stevens’ coffin was literally being carried off of a plane and into an airport hangar at Andrews Air Force Base on September 14, 2012 and said that “we’ve seen rage and violence directed at American embassies over an awful internet video that we had nothing to do with.” A blatant lie. Hillary Clinton has always operated under a shroud of secrecy and played by her own set of rules. Her time as Secretary of State once again revealed that she is not only untrustworthy, but ineffective. The Obama/Clinton foreign policy sowed the seeds of world turmoil that we are currently witnessing. If being Secretary of State was considered a test run for the Presidency, Hillary Clinton is clearly unfit to serve.

Agreed!! Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) is the author of that outstanding op/ed. Excellent!!! 🙂

Watchdog: AmeriCorps-funded group helped women getting abortions

AmeriCorps, the massive public service program boasting 87,500 volunteers and a $728 million annual budget, is authorized to help with everything from disaster response services to foster care to affordable housing – but not with abortions. Yet a new inspector general report found that one of the recipients of AmeriCorp grants — the National Association of Community Health Centers — allowed a few of its members to provide assistance including “doula care,” or emotional support, to women getting abortions at three New York City clinics. The women also were provided transportation to and from the clinics. “First it’s inappropriate. Second, it’s a violation of the law, and third, it’s not what they’re supposed to be doing,” said Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn. “How many others might be working outside of what is statutorily given to them to do?” When AmeriCorps was expanded in 2009, Congress expressly prohibited money from being spent to “provid[e] abortion services or referrals for receipt of such services.” Yet, Tuesday’s IG report said NACHC ignored that, adopting a narrower interpretation that prohibited only “a direct referral for abortion … a name, address, telephone number, and other relevant factual information.” The IG report said NACHC continued the practice, even after a 2011 congressional hearing revealed that two other AmeriCorps grantees had violated abortion prohibitions — and after its parent organization, the Corporation for National and Community Services, repeatedly warned grantees about the need for strict compliance. In a written response on Wednesday, NACHC said, “We moved immediately to cease the activity in question, and suspended the identified site’s AmeriCorps members for a period until they and their site supervisors were retrained.” Its parent organization, the Corporation for National and Community Services, acknowledged the limited scope of wrongdoing, but also took a stronger view. “The grantee broke the law and violated the spirit of national service,” it said in a statement. Blackburn called for a closer look. “Let’s do a deeper dive on this and make sure there is no misuse of federal money or of federal staff time,” she said.

Definitely!!  Kudoes to Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) for holding NACHC’s feet to the fire.  Let’s be clear..  This has NOTHING to do with the abortion issue…but rather some bloated (and entirely unconstitutional) federal agency paid for by our hard-earned tax dollars doing things it is expressly prohibited from doing.

Rep. Blackburn Rips FCC Internet Takeover: If It Ain’t Broke Don’t Fix It

Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee is firing back at President Obama for his Federal Communications Commission (FCC) led internet takeover–which the administration bills as “net neutrality” and critics call “net neutering”–saying it can lead to censorship. Still Democrats are backing the President, saying his policies mean equal access for all. The FCC responded to President Obama’s push for Net-Neutrality to regulate the internet with a 3-2 vote over objections from some Republicans. According to Blackburn’s office, the courts have previously rejected the FCC’s attempts to regulate the internet. Net neutrality supporters say the regulations will increase investment in internet based services. The rules prohibit broadband providers from blocking or regulating internet traffic in a selective manner. According to the Tennessee Republican, there is no need for the FCC to be preceding internet service providers because the internet has worked effectively for decades. “The internet is not broken, it does not need the intervention of the FCC,” Blackburn said. “What this in essence does is to give the federal government the right to determine priority and value to content – so they’re ultimately going to be able to censor everything that you have.” Blackburn added. “We don’t need this. It will run up costs and lead to new regulations and new taxes,”

Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) is exactly right!! Obama and his fascist FCC have won round one in his battle to have the federal government take over control of the internet, which is an awful notion. But, it’s FAR from over as it’s already in court, and the federal courts, thus far, have pushed back on Obama’s nazi-istic aspirations as it relates to the internet. Let’s hope that the they give Obama and the FCC’s latest ruling yet another epic smackdown. The internet is working just fine. And, if someone doesn’t like their carrier, they can go with another one. That’s how the free market works…and everyone wins when it’s left alone. Each time Obama and his big government liberals have taken over anything, it’s been a complete disaster. Just look at Obamacare, and the web site, and on and on. It’s been nothing but a trainwreck from day one. Why on earth would we want to impose on the internet what those morons in the White House have done to our healthcare?!?

26 Republicans Vote Against Blackburn Amendment To Defund Obama’s Executive Amnesty For Illegal Aliens

A whopping 26 Republicans joined the Democrats in Congress to vote against an amendment to the DHS funding bill sponsored by Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN). That amendment aims to block funds for President Obama’s 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), largely believed to be the root cause of the border crisis last summer.

Good for Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN)!!  And, shame on these Republicans who voted against this measure.  Take a look at this list.  And, if you see your Congressman/Congresswoman on that list, send them an email and let them know you’re disappointed in their vote.

Jeff Sessions: Congress Must Oppose House, Senate Border Bills

Jeff Sessions: Congress Must Oppose House, Senate Border Bills

Excellent!  Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) is EXACTLY right here!  He gets it.  Watch this video of him on the floor of the Senate making his case.  I saw Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) talking about this as well the other day.  She is equally spot on.  The House needs to include this necessary language and get it passed before they go on their summer recess, or Obama WILL exploit the opportunity and grant all sorts of amnesty while Congress is out of town.  NOW is the time to call/email your member of Congress and tell them to include the Senate’s restrictive language on Obama’s ability to unilaterally, and unlawfully, grant amnesty etc using executive action.  And, of course, while you’re on the phone or emailing them, be sure to tell them to BUILD THE WALL!!
