illegal children

Analysis: Donald Trump’s mainstream immigration policy

Perhaps no Trump policy has provoked more emotional reaction than the practice of separating illegal border crossers from the children they brought with them to the U.S. There’s no need to recount the number of times critics have called the president a Nazi, or a fascist, or just plain cruel. The administration has now stopped the separation policy. But it plans to continue prosecuting illegal border crossers and, when those crossers bring children illegally into the U.S., will “detain families together during the pendency of immigration proceedings,” according to an administration court filing in California. That of course will not satisfy the critics, and legal challenges are sure to follow. But if a new poll is correct, it appears the Trump administration, after an enormously damaging few weeks, has ended up squarely on the side of the majority of American voters. The new survey is a Harvard-Harris poll, by former Clinton pollster and strategist Mark Penn. It was conducted June 24-25, with 1,448 registered voters. On the issue of separations, Penn began with a threshold question: “Do you think that people who make it across our border illegally should be allowed to stay in the country or sent home? Sixty-four percent (83 percent of Republicans, 47 percent of Democrats, and 66 percent of independents) said they should be sent home. Thirty-six percent said they should be allowed to stay. Then, Penn asked: “Do you think that parents with children who make it across our border illegally should be allowed to stay in the country or sent home?” The presence of children made little different in the result: 61 percent (81 percent of Republicans, 40 percent of Democrats, and 66 percent of independents) said they should be sent home, while 39 percent said they should be allowed to stay. The vast majority — 88 percent — opposed separating illegal immigrant families while they are in the U.S., and they blamed the Trump administration for the policy. On the other hand, 55 percent (76 percent of Republicans, 39 percent of Democrats, and 55 percent of independents) said illegal immigrant families should be held in custody “until a judge reviews their case” — essentially the new Trump family detention policy. The end result was that a substantial majority said illegal border crossers, and the children they brought, should be returned to their home countries. To that end, 80 percent (84 percent of Republicans, 79 percent of Democrats, and 78 percent of independents) favored hiring more immigration judges “to process people in custody faster.” “They [poll respondents] rejected family separation while narrowly favoring family detention,” Penn told me in an email exchange. “Mostly they want people who cross the border illegally to be turned around and returned home efficiently.” Penn’s polling found other results broadly favorable to the Trump approach to immigration.

What ICE is really doing on the US-Mexico border

As a border patrol agent based near Mexico, Hector Garza holds his job in high esteem: He tries to do the job with dignity, he said, even in the face of mass protests aimed at the Trump administration’s policy of forcibly separating immigrant children from their parents. “We’re treating people with respect at the border,” he said during an interview with FOX Business’ Neil Cavuto. “Our agents go out there every single day and save these illegal immigrants who crossed, kids were abandoned by their parents, abandoned by the smugglers.” The furor began on Monday, after the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency began forcibly separating and detaining children from their parents who had entered the U.S. illegally. Although President Trump signed on Thursday an executive order that ended the policy by keeping families together when they’re detained, there are reportedly still hundreds of children separated from their parents. Garza said some of the separations are likely to continue, despite the executive order, because some of the children aren’t related to the adults purporting to be their parents. Some cartels, he said, will sneak across the border by pretending to be families. “Many times they don’t have any kind of information,” he said. “They have their names confused. The kid won’t even recognize who the adult is.” Garza did not have specific numbers about how many children may have been recruited by drug cartels. Protesters have targeted border patrol agents and administration officials, including Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. But, Garza said, many people aren’t aware of what it really entails to be a border patrol agent, or what the job is comprised of. And while he said the waves of hatred toward the agency has affected some of the agents, they will continue to go out there and protect the country, he said. Each day, agents confiscate mass amounts of drugs along the border — drugs that could kill people in the U.S., he said. “They’re focusing on this issue with families, but they’re not focusing on the fentanyl, the cocaine and all these dangerous drugs that are killing our kids in this country,” he said. “Those are the drugs we need to stop.”

Agreed..  THIS is the story that MSNBC, CNN, and the rest of the dominantly liberal mainstream media, as well as Democrat politicians, don’t want you to know.  For them, they don’t care at all about the illegal alien kids.  They just want to use this issue to whip up their base in a frenzy to oppose Trump and use it as an election issue in the November midterms.  That’s all.  The FACT that this policy of separating illegal kids from illegal adults that cross has been around for a long time spanning previous presidential administrations.  That’s a FACT.  These self-righteous Dems and liberal media personalities on MSNBC and CNN never hounded Obama or his administration when they had the same exact policy.  What hypocrites!  Another FACT..  Trump penned an executive action stopping most of these separations recently.  So, really…The issue is no more.  BUT, the liberal media, idiot liberal celebs in HollyWEIRD and Dems still are parading it around and keeping the “issue” alive for pure self-righteous, hypocritical reasons; again to keep it as a campaign issue in November.  FAKE NEWS!!    Remember that next time you find yourself having a brain fart and actually turning on CNN or MSNBC.

Jeff Landry: Despite Media’s ‘Shameful Propaganda Effort,’ Congress Must Stop Illegal Immigration

Throughout the 2016 Presidential campaign, then-candidate Donald Trump was clear that he intended to enforce our nation’s immigration laws. As commander-in-chief, President Trump and his Attorney General Jeff Sessions have dutifully kept that promise. But now that the laws are being faithfully executed, we are witnessing just how broken our system truly is. The way our immigration laws are currently constituted, they provide for two enforcement options: full enforcement or no enforcement. For the safety of our children, no enforcement is not an option. The Obama policy of catch and release served as a notice to all illegal aliens that they could violate our laws without consequence. And the flawed policies that Congress has allowed to remain in place have encouraged illegals to bring their children, or those claimed to be their children, because it would more likely secure their release. In effect, children have been used as get out of jail free cards. The major influx of unaccompanied minors entering through our Southern border and the family separation policy went largely unnoticed and unreported before President Trump took office. And the hysteria we have witnessed over the past week was non-existent during the Obama administration, by the public and the press. There are facts and there is hyperbole; and the mainstream media has recently chosen to go with full-blown hyperbole by deceptively showing videos of unaccompanied minors as though they were children separated from their parents after illegally crossing the border together. They have repeatedly played videos edited for dramatic effect and audio yet to be authenticated as infallible. This propaganda effort by the mainstream media is shameful. The mainstream media has failed to fully report how the Trump administration is spending $1 billion dollars per year to provide food and education to unaccompanied minors while providing them with an unprecedented level of dignity and security. They have ignored the Trump administration’s unmatched compassion and use of this money that could have been spent on the welfare of American children. The mainstream media has also failed to mention that many unaccompanied minors were separated from their families in their countries of origin by their parents’ choice to send them on the dangerous trek north with drug smugglers and sex traffickers. The mainstream media has glossed over the fact that the separation policy only applied to a small fraction of people who willfully broke the law and violated the sovereignty of the United States. Had these relatively few families gone to a port of entry, there would have bene no separation. Furthermore, the mainstream media has diminished MS-13’s use of the child loophole to perpetuate their drug smuggling, human trafficking, and other criminal enterprises. They have rarely reported that this terror organization’s motto is “kill, rape, control” or that it has taken over schools. So while Rachel Maddow and other coastal elites feign tears of sadness – I join the American parents who have taught their children to follow the law, salute the flag, and love their brothers and sisters who are wailing at funerals of those whose dreams were ended by unaccompanied minors not in federal custody. And I refuse to play another game with feckless leftists who repeatedly use serious issues like illegal immigration as political weapons against the Trump administration rather than fix crises they claim to care about. So I call on Congress to take action. Stop kicking the can down the road. Stop the political gamesmanship and make the hard decisions. Close the loopholes necessitating executive action. Build the wall. Beef up our border security. And defend our sovereignty. American children are counting on you to do so.

Well said, Jeff.  AG Jeff Landry is the elected attorney general for Louisiana, and used to serve in Congress as a U.S. rep.  Please consider this your “Read of the Day.”  If you read anything here at The Daily Buzz today, then READ THIS!!  Then, pass it along to all of your friends and family members, especially those who are Democrats or who watch CNN or MSNBC.  Excellent!!    🙂

Steve Bannon defends Trump administration separating families at border: ‘Morality is the law’

Steve Bannon, President Trump’s former White House senior adviser, said Sunday a wall at the southern border would solve the problem of separating children from parents who illegally enter the United States. “Give me a border wall and we won’t have this problem,” Mr. Bannon told ABC’s “This Week.” The former Breitbart News executive chairman said the president is simply enforcing the law in response to critics who say it is immoral to separate families. “The morality is the law. They are criminals when they came across and that’s why they are getting separated,” Mr. Bannon said. “Children cannot stay with parents who are getting charged with a crime.”

Exactly!!  But, these sycophant reporters in the dominantly liberal mainstream media, and self-serving, self-righteous, hypocritical Dems in Congress who didn’t criticize Obama who presided over the implementation of this duly enacted law, simply don’t get that it’s smart policy to do this.  After all, if your an adult and you cross illegally, you’re committing a felony!  Kids can’t be charged as adults.  Also, just because they’re coming with a kid, doesn’t mean its THEIR kid.  Drug cartel and all sorts of criminals grab kids and cross with them.  We’ve seen many examples of this.  So, the LAW (which cannot be over-ridden by some executive action by the president, as one idiot reporter who didn’t take civics 101 in 6th grade suggested recently on MSNBC) protects many of these illegal immigrant children by separating them from criminals posing as their parents who may also be involved in human trafficking.  Oh, didn’t think of that did ya, MSNBC and Jim Acosta over at CNN?  Tools..  The message that needs to be broadcast south of our southern border is that if you cross illegally with your kids, you will lose them.  Period!  Couple that with an actual wall on the border, and imagine how effective that would be in stopping the flood of illegal aliens invading our country on a daily bases.  Yeah..  Imagine that happy thought.  You’re welcome.    🙂

Record $135 billion a year for illegal immigration, average $8,075 each, $25,000 in NY

The swelling population of illegal immigrants and their kids is costing American taxpayers $135 billion a year, the highest ever, driven by free medical care, education and a huge law enforcement bill, according to the the most authoritative report on the issue yet. And despite claims from pro-illegal immigration advocates that the aliens pay significant off-setting taxes back to federal, state and local treasuries, the Federation for American Immigration Reform report tallied just $19 billion, making the final hit to taxpayers about $116 billion. State and local governments are getting ravaged by the costs, at over $88 billion. The federal government, by comparison, is getting off easy at $45 billion in costs for illegals. President Trump, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and conservatives in Congress are moving aggressively to deal with illegals, especially those with long criminal records. But their effort is being fought by courts and some 300 so-called “sanctuary communities” that refuse to work with federal law enforcement. The added burden on taxpayers and the unfairness to those who have applied to come into the United States through legal channels is also driving the administration’s immigration crackdown. The report, titled “The Fiscal Burden Of Illegal Immigration on U.S. Taxpayers,” is the most comprehensive cost tally from FAIR. It said that the costs have jumped about $3 billion in four years and will continue to surge unless illegal immigration is stopped.

Unaccompanied minors swelling ranks of American gangs, say experts

A surge of unaccompanied children coming across the southern border could be swelling the ranks of one of America’s most dangerous gangs, either as fresh recruits or hardened sleepers, according to federal authorities. Some 227,149 unaccompanied children have been apprehended at the border over the last six years, according to the U.S. Border Patrol. They remain in federal custody until a sponsor can be located, at which time they are often sent to communities where they are ripe for recruitment by Latin gangs such as the infamous MS-13. “Our safety standards have increased,” Andrea Helling, spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, told FoxNews.com. “In the last few months screening procedures of children and sponsors has increased in their intensity which we hadn’t done previously.” Federal law requires the Department of Homeland Security transfer children under 18 to the custody of Helling’s agency until they are released to an appropriate sponsor, usually a relative, while their immigration cases are adjudicated. Some observers say that, at the least, the process sends a steady stream of loosely supervised youths lacking in language and coping skills right into the waiting arms of criminal gangs. At worst, the unaccompanied minors were already initiated into the gangs before they arrived at the border. MS-13 is believed to be among the largest street gangs on New York’s Long Island, and more than 250 members have been convicted on federal felony charges since 2003. Federal prosecutors there have pinned more than 20 murders on the violent gang. Meanwhile, over the last year, Long Island has received 2,093 unaccompanied children, and between October 2013 and July 2016, all of New York received 12,478 children from Central America. The overwhelming majority of the kids are not criminals and likely have competent sponsors. But some are. In June 2015, MS-13 members and El Salvadoran immigrants Jose Cornejo, 17, Bryan Larios, 18 and Joel Escobar, 17, all of Brentwood, N.Y. were charged with the brutal rape of a 16 year-old girl on a local golf course. Earlier this week, Joshua Guzman, 15, was shot and killed in the Long Island city of Hempstead. While not an unaccompanied immigrant, the boy’s father, Raul Guzman, told Newsday his son was under pressure to join a gang. Police believe his murder may be related. “We’re looking at the possibility,” said Lt. Richard LeBrun, spokesman, Nassau County Police Department, that Guzman’s murder could be gang related. MS-13 has a foothold in numerous other communities, where unaccompanied minors are being sent. Texas, which has seen a spike in MS-13 crime has received 15,999 over the same period. The 2015 Texas Department of Public Safety Gang Threat Assessment found MS-13 boasts some 800 members, and authorities explicitly blamed the flood of unaccompanied children being placed in the state. “The influx of illegal alien gang members crossing the border into Texas in 2014, along with reports of extremely violent murders committed by its members in the Houston area, positions the gang as one of the most significant gang threats in the state for this upcoming year,” the report stated. Other areas that have seen an influx in MS-13 crime are Maryland, Texas, and Virginia. Fairfax County, Va. has seen a 160 percent increase in MS-13 related incidents through April compared to the previous year. Helling said HHS is looking more closely at the sponsors who step forward to take custody of the minors. “Our responsibility is providing a safe place for these children,” she said. She said that high-risk children who may have been identified as gang members by DHS would likely be placed in either a staff secure or secure-juvenile detention facility. But even if they are not gang members when they come into the U.S., the risk remains that they could fall prey to recruitment efforts.

Gee…ya think?  Gangs are a cancer in our country..and thanks to Obama’s foolish immigration policies, he has allowed the numbers of new gang recruits to skyrocket the last 6-7 years he’s been in office.  Consider this today’s eye-popping example of why it is absolutely critical that we BUILD THE WALL NOW!!!…and put U.S. Army National Guard troops physically ON the border with Mexico.  Then, those troops need to remain there on the border until that wall/fence is finally built above and below ground (to prevent tunneling)…however long it takes.  Simultaneously, we need to be deporting illegals by the hundreds of thousands (and yes, you read that correctly)…paying particular attention to known gang members (like MS-13), already convicted criminal aliens, and those determined by an immigration judge to be deported….regardless of age or gender.  And, that’s just for starters folks.  To do anything less is contrary to our country’s national security, and economic, interests.

Feds Report Growth in Program to Fly Central American Minors to U.S.

More than 7,300 immigrant parents have applied to have the U.S. government bring their children to the U.S. from Central America via the Obama Administration’s Central American Minors Refugee/Parole Program (CAM), according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ annual Ombudsman report. The CAM program allows immigrants who, in most cases, would not normally qualify for legal family reunification programs, to petition to have their children living in El Salvador, Guatemala, or Honduras to come to the U.S. as refugees or parolees. USCIS and the State Department created the CAM program in 2014 in response to the unprecedented surge of unaccompanied minors from Central America illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. That fiscal year, Customs and Border Patrol apprehended 51,705 unaccompanied minors from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras illegally entering the U.S. — a 1,464 percent increase over the number of unaccompanied minors CBP processed in FY 2009. According to the Ombudsman report, as of March 21, the State Department had received 7,357 CAM applications filed by parents representing 8,035 Central American minors — a substantial increase over the 565 CAM applications received in the first five months of the program. As of March 28, the CAM program had facilitated the arrival of 144 Central American minors (46 processed as refugees and 98 as parolees). Of the recent arrivals, 93 were from El Salvador, 46 were from Honduras and 5 were from Guatemala. The other applications were still in the adjudication process, according to the Ombudsman, “As of March 21, 2016, 2,633 children in El Salvador, 38 in Guatemala and 175 in Honduras had not yet received a pre-screening interview. A total of 1,088 children had completed prescreening, but had not received DNA testing results, and 1,143 children had not yet been interviewed to determine if they qualified for refugee or parole status.” The vast majority of the petitioning parents would not otherwise be qualified to bring family members to the U.S., including illegal immigrants granted executive amnesty and others shielded from deportation by Temporary Protected Status. “By far, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) was the immigration status held by the largest percentage of petitioning Qualifying Parents—approximately 89 percent,” according to the Ombudsman. “Slightly more than eight percent were submitted by legal permanent residents. Other forms of lawful status held by a smaller percentage of Qualifying Parents included DACA, Deferred Action (non-DACA), parole, and withholding of removal.” While the Obama Administration has billed the CAM program as an effort to help mitigate the illegal flow of Central Americans to the U.S.-Mexico border critics say it is another example of the administration circumventing Congress and opening up another questionable immigration pathway. “In effect, the President’s answer to the ongoing run on the border is to order government officials to transport many of those same individuals from Central America into the U.S. with lawful paperwork and guaranteed access to federal benefits,” Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) noted in reaction to the program last year.
