The overwhelming majority of likely U.S. voters, including a majority of black Americans, oppose the tearing down of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial featuring Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln, a poll finds. While rioters, as well as some Republican and Democrat lawmakers, have sought to remove monuments, statues, and flags associated with the Civil War and the nation’s presidents, the overwhelming majority of Americans say they are opposed to such plans. The latest Rasmussen Reports survey finds 75 percent of likely U.S. voters oppose closing or changing Mt. Rushmore in Keystone, South Dakota. Less than 20 percent said they support the removal of Mt. Rushmore. By a 56-percent majority, black Americans said they oppose tearing down Mt. Rushmore, while only about 35 percent said they support removing the monument. Likewise, more than six-in-ten Democrats, 76 percent of swing voters, 82 percent of white Americans, and 88 percent of Republican voters said they oppose tearing down Mt. Rushmore. The Rasmussen Reports survey also asked likely voters if they opposed or supported removing statues in honor of Presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson from public places. More than 70 percent of all likely voters said they opposed tearing down statues dedicated to the two men. Majorities in every racial, income, age, gender, political, and educational attainment group said they oppose tearing down statues and buildings honoring Washington and Jefferson — including 54 percent of black Americans, 78 percent of white Americans, 57 percent of Democrats, 83 percent of Republicans, and 75 percent of swing voters. For years, Americans by huge majorities have opposed a post-structuralist agenda to tear down and remake the nation’s historical monuments and statues. In a 2017 Rasmussen Reports survey, nearly 90 percent of Americans said they oppose tearing down monuments honoring former presidents. The poll surveyed 1,000 likely U.S. voters from June 29 to 30 and has a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.
The idea of desecrating, or tearing down, Mount Rushmore is a sentiment held only by these who just hate America in general, and those idiot millennial punks who have been bain-washed by their Marxist teachers into thinking that our history is evil and racist all around…and who never were really taught American civics in school. Glad the silent majority is still opposed to tearing down our history. But, that silent majority now more than ever needs to stand up and fight back against these punks who are trying to tear our country down.
A greater percentage of U.S. registered voters believe Confederate statues, which have been targeted by protesters in recent weeks, should remain standing despite activists’ demands to remove them, a Morning Consult poll released this week revealed. The survey, taken June 6-7, showed that a greater number of Americans believe Confederate statues should remain standing, 44 percent, as opposed to the 32 percent who say they should be removed. Twenty-three percent expressed no opinion on the matter. The fundings reflect a slight shift in opinion over the last three years. In August 2017, 52 percent of voters indicated that the statues should be left alone, with just over a quarter, 26 percent, indicating otherwise. However, Morning Consult reported that the purported increase in support over the years is largely driven by Democrats: The rise in support for removing the statues was driven by Democrats, a majority of whom now take that position, and independents, who still favor keeping those statues standing by a 10-point margin. Eleven percent of GOP voters say the statues should be removed, virtually unchanged since 2017. The vast majority of Republicans, 71 percent, believe the Confederate statues should remain standing, whereas the majority of Democrats, 53 percent, believe they should be taken down. Forty percent of independents believe they should remain standing, with 30 percent vying for their removal and 30 percent expressing no opinion. The survey was taken among “roughly” 1,900 voters, with a margin of error of +/- two percent. The survey comes as protesters vandalize and, in some cases, tear down Confederate statues and others they deem offensive, including statues of Christopher Columbus. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has also embraced the calls for change, requesting in a letter on Wednesday the removal of Confederate statues occupying the U.S. Capitol, or as she called them, “monuments to men who advocated cruelty and barbarism to achieve such a plainly racist end.” “Monuments to men who advocated cruelty and barbarism to achieve such a plainly racist end are a grotesque affront to these ideals,” she said in a letter to Committee Chair Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Vice Chair Zoe Lofgren (D-CA). “Their statues pay homage to hate, not heritage. They must be removed.” Interestingly, Pelosi has remained silent on her own father’s role in the dedication of a Confederate statue in Baltimore’s Wyman Park in 1948. Her father, Thomas D’Alesandro, Jr., oversaw the dedication of such a statue in Baltimore’s Wyman Park — the Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee Monument — as mayor of the city in 1948. At the time, the Speaker’s father said people could look to Jackson’s and Lee’s lives as inspiration and urged Americans to “emulate Jackson’s example and stand like a stone wall against aggression in any form that would seek to destroy the liberty of the world.” World Wars I and II found the North and South fighting for a common cause, and the generalship and military science displayed by these two great men in the War between the States lived on and were applied in the military plans of our nation in Europe and the Pacific areas,” D’Alesandro said at the dedication ceremony, as detailed by the Baltimore Sun. He continued: Today with our nation beset by subversive groups and propaganda which seeks to destroy our national unity, we can look for inspiration to the lives of Lee and Jackson to remind us to be resolute and determined in preserving our sacred institutions … remain steadfast in our determination to preserve freedom, not only for ourselves, but for other liberty-loving nations who are striving to preserve their national unity as free nations. Pelosi’s office did not return Breitbart News’s request for comment.
HAHAHAHA!!! Doh!! Hey Nancy! How ’bout them apples?? That lying, hypocritical windbag just got BUSTED! Some enterprising reporter needs to ask her these questions on camera, and see how she tries to dance around it. Of course that won’t happen, because she’s a Democrat. They’ll just look the other way, and let her get away with that. Typical.. Of course her at The Daily Buzz, we are right there with the majority of those registered voters and don’t believe we should be tearing down statues or monuments to any historical figures on either side. Those that want one of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (“MLK”) should have those statues. And, those descendants of Confederate Generals and other figures from that timeframe (especially in southern states that were part of the Confederacy during that time of our history), should have every right to protect and keep those statues and monuments. History is what happened; NOT what we wished had happened, or that hurt our tender feelings. People who have a problem with the facts of our history really need to get over it and move on. Same is true for the renaming of Army posts in our southern states. That is beyond ridiculous, and we support President Trump’s position NOT to do that. Shame on our legislators of BOTH parties who are caving to pc police and are trying to rename those historical posts.
In a brazen attempt to re-write history, President Barack Obama in a speech on Friday blamed “the politics of resentment and paranoia,” which he said had found a home in the Republican Party, for “wild conspiracy theories – like those surrounding Benghazi.” What a reprehensible way to frame an event that killed four Americans while they waited for rescue and protection they deserved from people Barack Obama never sent. Of course, you only heard about Obama’s characterization of Benghazi if you pay attention to conservative media. By and large the mainstream press excluded references to Benghazi from their reporting of the speech. Kris “Tanto” Paronto, one of the heroes who watched his friends die that night in Benghazi, called Obama’s comments “disgusting,” tweeting: “Benghazi is a conspiracy @BarackObama?! How bout we do this, let’s put your cowardly ass on the top of a roof with 6 of your buddies&shoot rpg’s&Ak47’s at you while terrorists lob 81mm mortars killing 2 of your buddies all while waiting for US support that you never sent.” He’s right to be offended. The real conspiracy of Benghazi was the false narrative that the whole thing was the result of an offensive video – an objectively proven lie born from the resentment and paranoia within Obama’s own administration. They didn’t think the truth was compatible with getting Barack Obama re-elected six weeks after the attack. In reality, Obama himself contradicted this conspiracy narrative before he even left office. Fox News’ Chris Wallace asked him in April 2016 to identify the worst mistake of his presidency. “Probably failing to plan for the day after what I think was the right thing to do, in intervening in Libya.” At least he got one thing right: Benghazi (or what he euphemistically refers to as the aftermath of his war in Libya) WAS a terrible mistake. What it was not is a conspiracy theory. With President Trump methodically erasing the Obama legacy, this bizarre attempt to reframe the narratives around Obama’s greatest failures should fool no one. Barack Obama took us to war with Libya. His State Department refused multiple requests to meet minimum security standards at the Benghazi consulate. President Obama never sent anyone to rescue or protect our ambassador or our own people during the 13 hours they were under attack. Four brave men died as a result and many other heroes had their lives forever altered. That is not a conspiracy. That is fact – no matter how inconvenient Democrats may find it. This is one part of the Obama legacy that Trump should not erase. We all need to remember the lessons learned from Obama’s worst mistake.
Agreed! Obama’s lies about his, and Hillary’s, epic failure with respect to Benghazi are unconscionable. It shows just how much of a coward he is. At best (and this is being WAY too generous), his and Hillary showed a spectacular lack of judgement and decision making when that horrific event happened. If you’re an honest Democrat, that is the ONLY defense you can possible muster. At worst, and this is FAR more accurate..there were a series of bad decisions, followed by a cover-up, and then when it was realized..Susan Rice was sent out to all of the major networks to lie about what they knew. That is exactly how it all went down. And, then.. When four brave Americans died as a result of this, Obama has the nerve in hindsight with the facts and videos out there to back it up…with his self-righteous, arrogant, metro-sexual manner to go out and suggest that the whole thing was a “Republican conspiracy?” Seriously?!? What a disgusting, nauseating tool… Shame on you Obama…and shame on the media for not calling him out, to his face…on camera. Thanks to former Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT, who was the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, for setting the record straight.
Leaders at the church that George Washington attended decided that a plaque honoring the first president of the United States must be removed. Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia will take down a memorial marking the pew where Washington sat with his family, saying it is not acceptable to all worshipers. “The plaques in our sanctuary make some in our presence feel unsafe or unwelcome,” leaders said, a reference to the fact that Washington was a slaveholder. “Some visitors and guests who worship with us choose not to return because they receive an unintended message from the prominent presence of the plaques.” “Many in our congregation feel a strong need for the church to stand clearly on the side of ‘all are welcome- no exceptions,'” they concluded. A memorial to Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee will also come down. The decision comes in the wake of renewed controversy over whether statues honoring Civil War figures should be no longer honored. The debate broke out again over the summer after a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia killed one and injured others. President Trump expressed concern that the censoring of Confederate generals would lead to dishonoring Thomas Jefferson and George Washington as well.
Clearly he was right… This erasing (or revising) of our American history is very dangerous stuff. George Washington DID own slaves. That’s true. The perpetually offended should get the hell over it. That was just something that happened back then. We don’t excuse or condone it. We simply acknowledge it as a fact. Washington also was our nation’s first President (a title he never wanted), and lead our country’s war for independence against the British. He held our country together when it almost fell apart. Instead of erasing our heritage, we need to celebrate these contributions by our founding fathers. Shame on this church for caving to the whining of a few tourists, who probably wouldn’t go back anyway, and denying the rest of us the opportunity to be awed by this piece of American history. Unreal..
If Democrats seeking the removal of historical memorials tied to racist history are serious, they should be tripping over one another to get in front of a camera and call for the removal of memorials and namesakes to Presidents Andrew Johnson, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Lyndon Baines Johnson, and Sen. Robert C Byrd. These five men had two things in common–all had a penchant for racism to one degree or another, and all were Democrats. Some of the memorials to them are monuments, some are groves, others are highways, bridges, colleges, and even cemeteries. Of course, the cemeteries ought not be disturbed, but they should be renamed if the Democrats are serious about rooting out the vestiges of racism. Click here to read a short description of each of the Democrats and the memorials and/or namesakes in their honor:
Democrat politicians and the dominantly liberal mainstream media have a short memory…a VERY short memory. After all, the late Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) was the Sen. Majority Leader (for crying out loud), and was in the Senate up til 2010; only 7 years ago. Keep in mind that Sen. Byrd was an “exalted cyclops” of the Ku Klux Klan!! And yet NOBODY in the Democratic party OR in the liberal media said ANYTHING about that. Where was Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Chuck Schumer, the NAACP, PBS/NPR, CNN, and of course, MSNBC?!? Their silence for decades has been deafening. Talk about brazen hypocrisy!! And, that’s just for starters.. The liberal media and Democrats like to bring up the KKK, and throw out the name “David Duke” (a former Louisiana state legislator and former leader of one of the many Klan organizations in the U.S.) as some sort of talking point. It’s totally scripted, and phony. For those who may not know.. Started in 1865 after the Civil War, the membership of the KKK was almost exclusively Democrats for the first ONE HUNDRED YEARS of it’s existence! That’s a very inconvenient FACT that the left doesn’t want you to know. Anyway, to read the rest of this outstanding op/ed by AWR Hawkins, click on the text above.
We hear a lot about the United States’ Judeo-Christian heritage, but according to President Obama, “Islam has been woven into the fabric of our country since its founding.” That’s what the president told a White House conference on “countering violent extremism” on Wednesday. Obama has said similar things in the past.
Indeed he has.. Obama’s breathtaking, ideologically self-serving, history revisionism should offend every American citizen who has had the most basic elementary school American civics, and has half a brain. I mean, c’mon!! How dumb does he really think we all are?!? No, Mr. President. Islam has NOT “been woven into the fabric of our country since its founding.” Starting with the Pilgrims who came over on the Mayflower and settled at Plymouth Rock in the early 17th century, through our Declaration of Independence, our War for Independence, the subsequent U.S. Constitution and its first 10 Amendments we call the “Bill of Rights,” and so on… Our country was founded as a Christian nation. Period. Yes, we have freedom of religion and tolerate ALL religious faiths here, and always have.. But, make NO mistake about it. Our founders were Christian men and women who did NOT whip out their prayer rugs and face Mecca a few times a day. They had Bibles in virtually every household, and the kids’ school textbook was the New England Primer for the first century and a half. Take a very good look at it sometime. It’s basically excerpts from the Bible used to teach English and so on. I’m sorry if that offends the politically correct, tender sensibilities of some. But, as John Adams once said, “facts are stubborn things.” Agreed. We were founded as a tolerant, free, yet undeniably, clearly Christian nation. It’s not even moot. The only interaction our founders had with Muslims was fighting Muslim pirates from Africa on the high seas. That’s it. So, Mr. President…. Stop lying to the American people about our heritage. Perhaps you’re confusing YOUR Islamic upbringing in Indonesia with America’s. I’d recommend you read the “Politically Incorrect Guide to American History.” Moron..
