Sen. Bill Cassidy: The Democratic Party Should Change Its Name Due to Its Racist Past

The following is an open letter to Thomas Perez, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, regarding Democratic elected officials calling for the removal of memorials and names from buildings and events: “Dear Chairman Perez, Peaceful protests over George Floyd’s death have been overshadowed by woke rhetoric. Justice for Floyd and legislative police reform efforts have morphed into identifying offensive statements and personal associations of public and historical figures. Demands are then levied to erase their names, memorials, and if alive, that they remove themselves from public life. This “call to action” disregards the time elapsed since the event, the context or the person’s other notable achievements. This happened at Louisiana State University, my alma mater. California Democrats wish to erase John Wayne’s name off the Orange County Airport, and Princeton University will remove references to Woodrow Wilson, a past President of Princeton, Governor of New Jersey, and President of the United States. It seems only a matter of time until there are ropes on the Washington and Jefferson Memorials and calls to rename Washington, D.C. But let’s look at the logical conclusion of obliterating or erasing mention of anyone who transgressed. Given the Democratic Party’s embarrassment that Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson were Democrats (gone is the Jefferson-Jackson Day) shouldn’t the party be embarrassed of its own name? Isn’t the Democratic Party’s role in our country’s worse episodes of racism offensive? The Democratic Party was founded by slave owners. These slave owners insisted upon a constitution which preserved slavery. The Democratic Party opposed Republican efforts to end slavery. The Democratic Party opposed Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. After the Civil War, Democrats opposed Republican efforts to give newly freed slaves voting rights and civil rights. In more recent times, Democratic members of the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives fought Civil Rights legislation, beginning with Republican President Dwight Eisenhower’s Civil Rights Act of 1957. Democratic governors fought integration of schools and public services, and the list goes on. It took courageous decisions by Republican judges and the enforcement of these laws by President Eisenhower who at one point called out the military to overcome resistance. Two Democratic luminaries, Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black and long serving Senator Robert Byrd, were members of the KKK as young men. Most recently, Democratic mayors have permitted policies such as choke holds and unconstitutional use of force. If the Democratic mayor of Minneapolis had insisted on police reforms, George Floyd would be alive. Two weeks ago, Senate Democrats refused to even allow debate on the Justice Act, a bill with reforms which would prevent deaths similar to George Floyd’s. Democrats said they would not allow debate on the Justice Act because they did not like the process. People will die because of not liking a process. This further sullies the title Democrat. Of course, the Democratic Party is responsible for many good things, but the current spirit of the age is not to balance the totality of what someone or some organization has done. If there is any association with the intolerable, even if the person or organization contributed greatly to the freedoms we have today, even providing the intellectual framework which inspired Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr. as did Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence, they or it must be erased. In which case, the Democratic Party should be renamed if not disbanded. Sincerely, Bill Cassidy, MD P.S. I actually think the Democratic Party should keep its name. But the measure given will be the measure received. What I write as irony will soon be another’s earnest intent. Why not?

Thanks to Dr./Sen. Bill Cassidy (R) for that outstanding example of trolling the Dems!  Sen. Cassidy is the senior U.S. Senator from the great state of Louisiana.  The brazen hypocrisy of Democrat politicians right now is beyond breathtaking.  And, frankly, the good Senator is being nice.  As the militant left mob goes to tear down anything Confederate, they should be reminded that that it was DEMOCRAT white Confederate men who founded the KKK, and that the membership of the Klan was 100% white DEMOCRATS for the first CENTURY of its existence (i.e. 1865 – the mid 1960s, give/take).  That’s something the dominantly liberal mainstream media, and current Democrat politicians don’t want you to know…  Kinda like the fact that Al Gore (D) never wanted anyone to know his father voted AGAINST the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s.  And, everyone, including Bill Clinton, made all sorts of excuses for the fact that Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) was not only a “member” of the KKK; he was an “Exalted Cyclops,” which was the top officer in his organization.  And Sen. Byrd was in the U.S. Senate up til 2010…and Obama didn’t seem to mind.  Just fathom if there had been a Republican Senator or member of Congress with such a background..  He/she wouldn’t last one day in either chamber, let alone become the Senate Majority Leader…like Sen. Byrd did.

GOP Senator Pushes Back When Confronted by Anti-Kavanaugh Protester

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) was the latest Republican lawmaker to be harassed by a protester who opposes the Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court nomination. Several Republicans — including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell — have been targeted by demonstrators who do not believe Kavanaugh should be confirmed to the high court due to a series of sexual assault allegations. On Monday, Cassidy was walking in the hall of a Senate office building when he was confronted by a woman who demanded to know why he’s supporting Kavanaugh. Cassidy pushed back, asking her if she would like her husband or son’s life “destroyed” by an “uncorroborated” charge. When the protester accused Cassidy of being “OK if a rapist goes on the Supreme Court,” the senior senator from Louisiana fired back, “No, I’m not. But then on the other hand, clearly you’re OK, the absence of evidence obviously means nothing to you.” After the woman refused to answer his questions about acting on uncorroborated allegations, he told her “you know it’s unfair.” Click here to read The Daily Caller’s transcript of the back-and-forth, and/or see the video of the exchange:

AWESOME!!!  If you’ve not seen this, click on the text above. MAJOR kudos to Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA).  FINALLY someone on the GOP side is punching back against these Soros-backed plants.,…unlike Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) who just stood there in the elevator looking like a total wuss.  He got taken to the cleaners by a total plant.  We need more GOP Senators and members of Congress not just pushing back…but punching back against these self-righteous, hypocritical, Soros-backed, hacks.  Outstanding!!!     🙂

Sen. Cassidy fires back at Kimmel in health bill feud: ‘Jimmy doesn’t understand’

Sen. Bill Cassidy fired back Thursday at late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, as their feud over the health care bill the Louisiana Republican senator has co-authored extended into a third day. “Jimmy doesn’t understand,” Cassidy told “Fox & Friends.” The host of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” who delivered a memorable monologue in May when he revealed his newborn son’s heart condition, first took aim at Cassidy and his bill on Tuesday night. He said Cassidy “was not very honest” in an earlier appearance on his show. Kimmel said Cassidy coined the term, “the Jimmy Kimmel test,” which was summed up by Kimmel as: No family should be denied medical care, emergency or otherwise, because they can’t afford it. They agreed the test would mean no lifetime caps, Kimmel said. Kimmel claimed, “This guy, Bill Cassidy, just lied to my face.” The host doubled down Wednesday night, again accusing the senator of breaking a vow to oppose plans that allow insurers to turn back people with pre-existing conditions. But Cassidy said Thursday that his legislation, which he and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., introduced, would “absolutely” be cheaper and better than ObamaCare. “Jimmy doesn’t understand, not because he’s a talk show host — because we’ve never spoken,” Cassidy said. “He’s only heard from those on the left who are doing their best to preserve ObamaCare. He’s not heard from me, because we’ve not spoken.” The senator has spoken to Kimmel; he appeared on Kimmel’s show back in May. Challenged on that point, Cassidy acknowledged he was on the show but seemed to say that he and the host have not spoken specifically about his latest bill, which he said would give millions to the states to help low-income families get access to insurance and care for pre-existing conditions. Amid the feud, the White House is trying to rally support for the legislation in hopes of a possible Senate vote next week. “This may well be our last best chance” to pursue health care reform based on “individual choice” and “state-based innovation,” Vice President Pence told “Fox & Friends” on Thursday. He added, “We have to recognize that ObamaCare has failed.” At its core, the bill would put ObamaCare’s financing for subsidized private health insurance and Medicaid expansion into a giant pot and redistribute it among states according to new formulas. States could obtain federal waivers allowing them to modify insurance market safeguards for consumers. This means states could set their own coverage requirements. The bill also would allow insurers to boost prices on people with serious medical conditions, end former President Barack Obama’s mandates that most Americans buy insurance and that companies offer coverage to workers, and cut and reshape Medicaid. The bill’s full impacts are difficult to predict because the Congressional Budget Office has not had time to assess it.

There ya’ go..  That’s the 2-dimensional analysis of the situation from the very liberal Associated Press (AP), a major player within the dominantly liberal mainstream media.  We’ve since learned that Jimmy, who isn’t exactly the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, has been getting his monologue talking points from none other than Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY).  Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) is also an M.D.  That’s right.  A Medical Doctor.  He also happens to be married to one.  Let’s be clear…  The Graham-Cassidy bill being sponsored by Sen. Cassidy and Sen. Graham (R-SC) is by no means the end all be all fix to the nightmare that is ObamaCare.  BUT..  It DOES fix a things, and yes, covers pre-existing conditions, etc.  And, it rightfully returns the control to the states in keeping with our wonderful 10th Amendment.  The question you have to consider is..  Would you rather listen to some canned talking points disguised as late not comedy (more like late-night rant) by some idiot like Jimmy Kimmel and use that as your guide for thinking through the complexities of the healthcare debate…OR…would you like to listen to professional opinion of a MEDICAL DOCTOR like Sen. Cassidy?  And just think..  There are a LOT of people who think that’s a difficult choice…
