Analysis: Victor Davis Hanson: American soldiers leave Germany — and suddenly Germany is upset

President Trump recently ordered a 12,000-troop reduction in American military personnel stationed in Germany. That leaves about 24,000 American soldiers still in the country. A little more than half of the troops being withdrawn will return home. The rest will be redeployed to other NATO member nations such as Belgium, Italy, and perhaps Baltic and Eastern European countries. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is said to be furious. She claims the redeployments will “weaken the (NATO) alliance.” German commercial interests chimed in that the troop withdrawals will hurt their decades-old businesses serving U.S. bases. Perhaps, but Merkel surely cannot be surprised. Six years ago, all NATO members pledged to spend 2 percent of their GDP on defense. Yet only eight of 29 so far have kept their word. Germany spends only about 1.4 percent of its GDP on defense. As NATO’s largest, wealthiest and most powerful European member, it sets the example for the rest of alliance. Merkel’s reneging on her 2014 pledge helps explain why less wealthy and influential NATO members also see no reason to meet their obligations. Germany surely knows that 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the World War II, and the 29th year since the fall of the Berlin Wall — the symbolic end of the Cold War. Will there be any point in the future when Europe is confident enough to be a full defense partner with the U.S. rather than an eight-decade client? NATO, of course, still provides a common European defense, but only by habitually relying inordinately on U.S. military contributions. That dependence seems increasingly odd when the European Union has an aggregate GDP nearly as large as America’s. More important, NATO’s frontline threats are now mostly concerned with rogue member Turkey, especially its bullying of Greece and its increasingly aggressive stance in the Middle East. Russia always poses a threat to Europe. But the likely flashpoints are not on the German border, but more likely eastward in the Baltic states or on the Russian frontier with Poland. Moreover, the Merkel government has concluded, over American objections, a huge natural gas deal with Russia that is currently under some U.S. sanctions and short of cash. Russian energy exports to Germany are said to earn Russia $10 billion a year, with a likely doubling of that income once additional pipelines to Germany are completed. Merkel likes to lecture the world on moral issues, but what is so noble about empowering Russian President Vladimir Putin, who recently reclaimed Crimea and seems now to be eyeing Belarus? Like a modern-day Byzantine emperor Justinian, who recovered much of the lost Western Roman Empire, Putin seems to think he can reabsorb the lost Soviet republics. In recent polling, Germans were more anti-American than any other nation in Europe. And while about 75 percent of Americans believe the U.S. still has a good relationship with Germany, only about a third of Germans feel that way about the U.S. Nearly half the German population in some polls want U.S. troops out. Note that Germany piles up the largest annual trade surplus with the U.S. of any nation in Europe — roughly $55 billion to $70 billion in most years. The Trump administration says the surpluses have grown in large part due to asymmetry in tariffs and duties, with Germany the far more protectionist of the two partners. With Germany now united, rich and often angry, and with the Soviet threat largely over, it’s Germany, not the U.S., that seems to have altered its view of this once-solid relationship. Does Merkel really believe that if her nation cuts huge deals with NATO’s historically greatest threat, polls as the most anti-American country in Europe and still refuses to honor its promises to increase defense spending, Germany still deserves a large American commitment of 36,000 troops to anchor its defense? There is one caveat that the Trump administration and other European countries might consider. According to its founders, NATO was created for three reasons: to keep the always aggressive Russians “out” of Europe, to keep the often isolationist Americans “in” to help protect it, and to keep the supposedly restless Germans “down” in order to avoid a replay of their invasions that ignited both world wars. In other words, the huge defense commitment to an often ungracious Germany over eight decades was not just envisioned to create a central base from which to protect Europe from ancient Russian ambitions, but also to remind Germany itself of its checkered past. That third mission seems ossified and silly now. But it is not entirely forgotten, and it may explain why many in Europe — and some in Germany itself — are worried when any American soldiers leave Germany.

Bottom line..  Germany has not kept its word on it’s commitment to NATO, and Trump isn’t a sucker.   Thanks to Dr. Victor Davis Hanson, PhD. for that excellent analysis and perspective!

Disney World will continue to have reduced hours in November

It doesn’t look like things will be back to normal at Disney World by the holiday season. The theme park recently released its schedule for the start of November and it appears that the park will continue to run on limited hours. It’s still unclear if annual holiday events at the park will go on or be canceled. According to the Walt Disney World website, the Magic Kingdom will open at 9 a.m. and close at 6 p.m, which is three hours earlier then it closed during the same time period in 2019. Epcot will open at 11 a.m. and close 7 p.m. Last November, Epcot was open from 9 in the morning until 9 in the evening. Hollywood Studios is opening one hour later at 10 a.m. and closing two hours earlier at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, Animal Kingdom will be closing at 5 p.m., which is three hours earlier than last November. These hours show a continued trend of reduced hours of operation at Disney World. Starting in September, the park will begin adjusting its hours for the fall season.

Foggy glasses, ‘maskne’ fixed with these simple tips

Following safety guidelines to protect against coronavirus is necessary, but brings along a few minor inconveniences. Here are a few solutions for annoyances brought on by face masks, including foggy glasses and so-called “maskne,” or acne breakouts under masks. You don’t have to accept “maskne” as just another irritating facet of life in 2020. Dr. Samer Jaber, of Washington Square Dermatology in New York City, advises adopting a few simple practices to keep it from forming in the first place. “When you wear a mask, you seal in your breath,” Jaber said. “This creates a moist, humid environment as it traps your breath, skin oils and sweat, leading to irritation, rashes and acne.” He added that the masks themselves may also irritate skin simply by being in contact with the face for long periods of time. This can possibly exacerbate existing conditions like eczema, psoriasis or rosacea. To prevent “maskne,” Jaber recommends washing the face twice daily, with whatever cleanser works best for your skin type and following with a moisturizer around the areas where the mask usually irritates the skin. ”It’s also imperative to let your masks dry out after each wear and to wash your cloth face coverings regularly to remove the oils and sweat trapped in it,” Jaber explains. If things are especially bad, Jaber has one last recommendation: “Don’t wear makeup under your mask.” “You can try a spot treatment with benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or glycolic acid,” says Jaber, who also said a hydrocortisone cream could help reduce inflammation on irritated areas. “Just be careful, as your skin in that area will likely be sensitive and topical acne treatments can make this more irritated and even worse.” Since face masks trap the breath and foster moist, humid environments, glasses wearers may have noticed that wearing a face mask can cause your lenses to fog. In a 2011 study from the Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, researchers advised washing the glasses with soapy water “immediately” before wearing a face mask. After shaking off any excess water, “let the spectacles air dry or gently dry off the lenses with a soft tissue before putting them back on. Now the spectacle lenses should not mist up when the face mask is worn,” they wrote. Glasses fog because humidity can escape the mask and move upward, coming into contact with the lenses and causing them to fog. Placing a tissue under the top of your face mask can also help absorb some of the droplets, leading to clear lenses. Wearing a mask that can form to the bridge of your nose — one with wire, for instance — can help prevent the warm air from your mouth from reaching your lenses. Next, frequent hand washing, especially during the ongoing pandemic, can lead to skin feeling dry, irritated or cracked. Preventing rough skin can be as simple as switching to a fragrance-free hand soap, which may contain fewer irritants. But Jaber also recommends carrying hand moisturizer for use after washing and drying your hands, suggesting a cream or an ointment rather than a lotion, as lotions are usually thinner and often contain alcohol. “Lotions can be great, but creams or ointments are thicker. Vaseline is an ointment, and it really locks things in,” Jaber said. Jaber further advised against fragranced moisturizers, as they may contain irritants. On another note, your face mask may be shifting around because it’s too loose. According to USA Today, the quickest and easiest solution is to fasten a knot in the mask’s ear loops. There are also lanyards that tighten the mask from behind the head, the outlet wrote. Since face masks are federally recommended for everyone over the age of 2, one expert recommended cloth face coverings for kids. “Cloth face coverings are the best option for most children. Any child who can mask, should,” Sara Johnson, associate professor of pediatrics and public health at Johns Hopkins Schools of Medicine and Public Health, told NBC News. Until there is a safe and effective vaccine, health officials advise face masks, social distancing and frequent hand washing to protect against the virus and curb virus spread.

GOP Mocks Bill Clinton For Lecturing Trump on Oval Office Conduct: Irony ‘Should Not Be Lost on Anyone’

Former President Bill Clinton, whose presidency was engulfed by an extramarital affair with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky, lectured President Trump for bringing “chaos” into the Oval Office during his Tuesday evening address at the Democratic National Convention, drawing a swift reaction from members of the GOP, who could not help but note the irony. Clinton kicked off his address by criticizing Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, assessing that the Wuhan virus “hit us much harder than it had to” before slamming the president’s Oval Office conduct. “At a time like this, the Oval Office should be a command center. Instead, it’s a storm center,” Clinton said. “There’s only chaos.” “Just one thing never changes: his determination to deny responsibility and shift the blame. The buck never stops there. Now, you have to decide whether to renew his contract or hire someone else,” he continued. “If you want a president who defies the job, is spending hours a day watching TV and zapping people on social media, he’s your man. Denying, distracting, and demeaning works great if you’re trying to entertain or inflame,” the former president added. “But in a real crisis, it collapses like a house of cards.” Many Republicans could not help but note the irony of Clinton criticizing Trump over proper Oval Office conduct, given his past: “The irony of Bill Clinton talking about the sanctity of the Oval Office should not be lost on anyone!” Donald Trump Jr. remarked: “With a straight face, Bill Clinton just tried to tell us ‘how’ the Oval Office should be used,” Trump campaign national press secretary Hogan Gidley said. “The absolute LAST person in the known universe I’d listen to about ‘how’ the Oval Office should be used…is Bill Clinton”: “The second night of the Convention was the parade of hypocrites. Sally Yates is concerned about politisizing [sic] DOJ? Bill Clinton wants to cleanse the Oval Office?” Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani said

This was pretty brazen even for Bill Clinton who knows no shame.  And, he wasn’t at his best.  He looked tired and old as he read from that prepared script.  It’s stunning just how tone-deaf the Clinton’s are these days..  For more, click on the text above..

Bill Clinton seen getting neck massage from Jeffrey Epstein accuser in newly uncovered 2002 photos

Newly uncovered photos show former President Bill Clinton receiving a neck massage from one of Jeffrey Epstein’s accusers on a humanitarian trip to Africa nearly 20 years ago. The photos, obtained initially by DailyMail.com, show Clinton sitting in a chair at a small airport in Portugal while getting adjusted by then-22-year-old Chauntae Davies. Davies apparently had massaged Clinton, then 56, at the suggestion of Epstein’s accused madam Ghislaine Maxwell after the former commander in chief had complained of a stiff neck after falling asleep on Epstein’s infamous private jet, later dubbed “The Lolita Express.” The entourage – which included actors Kevin Spacey and Chris Tucker – was going on a humanitarian trip to Africa in September 2002 to raise awareness about poverty and the AIDS crisis. Davies apparently had massaged Clinton, then 56, at the suggestion of Epstein’s accused madam Ghislaine Maxwell after the former commander in chief had complained of a stiff neck after falling asleep on Epstein’s infamous private jet, later dubbed “The Lolita Express.”

Hi, I’m Bill Clinton, and I approved this massage, lol.   🙂      To see these pics, and more, click on the text above.

Opinion/Analysis: Biden Exhibits Outright Racism in Picking a Running Mate

Joe Biden selected a running mate based on the color of her skin. He rejected other candidates based on the color of their skin. He did this openly and without apology. Think about that for a moment. Let that sink in. In the year 2020, more than six decades after America desegregated public schools, a nominee for president from a major political party brazenly displayed outright racism in picking a running mate. It is a mockery of everything Martin Luther King fought for. A perversion of the entire civil rights movement. For most Americans today, their parents would have spanked their little fannies raw if they had ever displayed such blatant racism on the schoolyard playground. But the former vice president is from a different era. Apparently, evaluating people by their skin color is perfectly acceptable to him. It is even celebrated. Mr. Biden was lauded and applauded by Democrats, which perhaps should not be a surprise given the party’s long, sordid history of outward racism. The really sad “hosannas” came from the national political media, which once stood athwart the currents of racism in America. But no more. They, along with the Democrat Party, remain the last bastions of open, celebrated racism. Literally, these people are the last people in America who remain utterly obsessed with race. They are gripped by skin color. Every decision they make about how to treat people, how to judge people and how to speak to people is entirely based upon the color of their skin. Ironically, we have nobody to thank for Mr. Biden’s candidacy more than President Barack Obama himself, who only needed Mr. Biden as his vice president because he needed a goofy, old, throwback white political hack from Washington for a sidekick. If Mr. Obama had not needed that very particular itch scratched at the moment he picked Mr. Biden out of the dustbin of history, Ol’ Joe would be happily living out his golden years in some pleasant retirement home sniffing nurses and offering them lap rides in his Corvette while wearing his aviator glasses. Instead, he is running for president of the United States. Because among 350 million people, Democrats could not find anybody better. Even Kamala Harris is smart enough to know that “making history” cannot be her only reason for serving as Mr. Biden’s running mate. She has to at least pretend to be more than just the color of her skin (and her preferred gender at the moment). So, she goes for family connections, otherwise known as “nepotism.” “I’ve been thinking about the first Biden that I really came to know,” Ms. Harris said at her race-based unveiling. “And that of course is one of his beloved sons, Beau.” Beau Biden served as a state attorney general at the same time as Ms. Harris did. He tragically died young of brain cancer in 2015. “Let me tell you about Beau Biden,” she said. “I learned quickly that Beau was the kind of guy who inspired people to be a better version of themselves. He really was the best of us.” “And when I would ask him, ‘Where do you get that? Where did this come from?’ He’d always talk about his dad.” That would be Joe Biden, the guy who picked Kamala Harris to be his running mate based on the color of her skin. The very same Joe Biden that barely a year ago she smeared as some kind of racist for his opposition to busing during the long, painful struggle to desegregate public schools. “It was hurtful to hear you talk about the reputations of two U.S. senators who built their reputations and careers on the segregation of race in this country,” she scolded him during one of the debates where Ms. Harris was clawing for the Democratic nomination that ultimately went to Mr. Biden. And hellbent she was to make it as personally humiliating as possible. “There was a little girl in California who was part of the second class to integrate her public schools and she was bused to school every day,” she jeered Mr. Biden in a carefully rehearsed take-down. “That little girl was me.” This is how she smeared Mr. Biden on national television in her grotesque effort to snatch political power? This is how she slimed the man who was responsible for raising Beau Biden to be the inspiration he was? This is what she says to a man responsible for making all of us “a better version” of ourselves and “the best of us”? Wow. What must this woman think of people she doesn’t know intimately who stand between her and her greedy clutches of power? And then she takes Mr. Biden up on his offer to grasp the brass ring with him? These people are truly sick. Sick, sick, sick. They are sick to their very souls. There is, literally, no dead body they will not desecrate in their desperate crusade for political power. At least she has the right color skin.

RNC Launches Website Exposing Biden’s ‘Disastrous Record, Hypocrisy, and Flawed Vision for America’

The Republican National Committee (RNC) has launched a website aimed at exposing Joe Biden’s (D) “disastrous record, hypocrisy, and flawed vision for America” ahead of the Democrat National Convention, which kicks off on Monday. The website serves as a one-stop-shop for bite-size facts on the former vice president’s history of corruption. It features “folders” covering a range of topics, from China to Hunter Biden. One folder on TheRealJoe.com is titled “Biden, Inc.,” providing several examples of the Biden family leveraging their name to enrich themselves, as Peter Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute has documented in his New York Times bestseller, Profiles in Corruption: Abuse of Power by America’s Progressive Elite. Other folders include Biden on the economy, trade, foreign policy, energy and accountability, crime and guns, health care and abortion, and China. Examples from the “China” folder include: Biden supported China’s membership into the World Trade Organization and granting China “Most Favored Nation” trade status, which killed 3.7 million American jobs. Since touring China in the 1970s, Biden has consistently downplayed the potential economic and military threats from the communist regime and repeatedly supported trade relations with China that hurt Americans. Prior to the Implementation of Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) with China in 2000, Biden voted against human rights standards and enforcement for the country. The website features sections to Biden’s family members, including Hunter Biden, Frank Biden, and James Biden, and offers a cache of videos featuring infamous Biden gaffes and extreme views. It also provides a section for voters to donate or volunteer to defeat Trump’s challenger. “Since Joe Biden refuses to take questions from the press about his radical agenda and failed track record, the RNC is making sure the American people know the real Joe,” RNC spokesman Steve Guest said in a statement. The launch comes on the heels of the Trump campaign and RNC’s $165 million fundraising haul in July, edging out Biden and Democrats by $25 million. Click here to see this site:

Joe Biden’s $7 trillion spending proposal: What’s in it?

Joe Biden wants the federal government to spend close to $7 trillion more over the next decade on issues like health care, housing and climate change — part of a sweeping presidential platform that he says will build on President Barack Obama’s legacy and unite a fractured nation. The former vice president has said he will pay for the measures with about $4 trillion in tax increases on corporations, investments and wealthy Americans. That includes an overhaul of President Trump’s massive $1.5 trillion Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which slashed the corporate tax rate to 21% from 35% and temporarily reduced individual income taxes. “I’m going to get rid of the bulk of Trump’s $2 trillion tax cuts, and a lot of you may not like that, but I’m going to close loopholes like capital gains and stepped-up basis,” Biden said, according to a pool report of the virtual fundraiser. Biden’s trillion-dollar proposals signal that he’ll continue the unprecedented level of government spending that began in mid-March as American life came to a grinding halt because of the COVID-19 crisis. In the span of 10 months, the budget deficit climbed to $2.81 trillion, a record high, according to the Treasury Department. In total, the U.S. government has spent more than $5.6 trillion so far this year. The deficit for fiscal 2020 is projected to hit $3.7 trillion, a record, according to a projection from the Congressional Budget Office. The current record for a fiscal year deficit is $1.41 trillion, set in 2009. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders lauded his one-time rival’s policy measures on Monday night during his Democratic National Convention speech. “Joe will move us forward,” he said, citing Biden’s policies on paid family leave; universal child care; health care; and criminal justice reform. “The future of our democracy is at stake. The future of our economy is at stake. The future of our planet is at stake. We must come together, defeat Donald Trump and elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as our next president and vice president,” he said. “My friends, the price of failure is just too great to imagine.” Biden is expected to formally accept the Democratic presidential nomination on Thursday from Wilmington, Del., where he lives and served for years as a U.S. senator, instead of Milwaukee, the original convention site, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Click here to take a closer look at Biden’s multi-pronged proposals – and where the money would go:

And please do..and be absolutely terrified at the enormity of this boondoggle of government waste and socialism that we and our kids will be stuck with the bill for.  That’s right.  WE will pay for this ridiculous waste if Joe Biden wins in November.  Hopefully this will help sway those on the fence to vote for Trump!

Pepperoni shortage strikes small pizza places across the US: report

Pepperoni lovers may have to learn to be OK with plain pizza for a bit. Various shortages have struck during the coronavirus pandemic, ranging from toilet paper (which was caused by panic buying during the early days), coins, and even aluminum cans. Now, pepperoni has apparently fallen victim to the pandemic. Pizza shops across the United States say they’re paying higher prices for the popular topping and have noticed that the supply has become tighter, Bloomberg reports. Restaurants from New York to South Dakota have reportedly seen a significant increase in price, with the cost nearly doubling in some areas. According to the news outlet, other meat products saw temporary price increases during the pandemic. While ground beef became more expensive earlier in the year, the price has reportedly started to drop. Pepperoni, on the other hand, continues to be expensive. R-Pizza in Vermillion, South Dakota, told Bloomberg that supply issues forced the restaurant to change suppliers for the first time in nine years. There are apparently two factors causing the shortage. The first is that pork processors have had to deal with a reduced number of workers during the pandemic. Pepperoni is reportedly a complicated meat product to make, so some suppliers have reduced the amount being produced. The other possible reason is that the demand for pizza has risen during the lockdowns and pandemic. With more people staying home for dinner, many families are apparently ordering the popular delivery food (with a significant number requesting pepperoni as a topping). So far, larger chains have not been impacted by the pepperoni shortage, as they buy ingredients through long term contracts, Bloomberg reports. Matthew Hyland, the owner of New York City’s Emily, explained to Bloomberg why the restaurant hasn’t raised the cost of its pizza. He said, “It’s an American right to have pepperoni on pizza. Pepperoni is such a huge part of pizza it’s important to us that we keep it accessible.”

Evening newscasts 150 times more negative toward Trump than Biden, study says

The evening newscasts on ABC, CBS and NBC have been 150 times more negative when covering President Trump compared to presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, according to a new study. The Media Research Center analyzed all statements made by reporters, anchors and nonpartisan sources, such as experts or voters, made on CBS’ “Evening News,” “NBC Nightly News” and ABC’s “World News Tonight” from June 1 through July 31. The findings showed that Biden has received eight positive evaluative statements with only four negative comments made about the former vice president in a two-month period. But when it comes to Trump, the study showed that coverage has been overwhelmingly negative. CBS’ “Evening News,” “NBC Nightly News” and ABC’s “World News Tonight” made a whopping 634 negative evaluative statements about Trump over the same time period, according to the study. The evening newscasts made 34 positive statements about the president over the same time period. The MRC did not include evaluations and comments from partisan sources in the findings. MRC research director Rich Noyes, who conducted the study, feels that “millions of viewers are witnessing the most biased presidential campaign coverage in modern media history.” Noyes noted that ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts focused 512 minutes of airtime on Trump over the two-month sample, which is nine times more than the 58 minutes spent on Biden. While the sitting president receiving much more coverage during a global pandemic doesn’t seem unusual, the tone of the coverage surprised Noyes. “I’ve been studying the news media and elections for more than 35 years. Trust me — there’s never been anything like it,” Noyes wrote. “Do the math, and viewers heard 150 TIMES more negative comments about Trump than Biden. That’s not news reporting — that’s a negative advertising campaign in action.” Trump regularly blasts the mainstream media for what he feels is unfair coverage and recently accused Biden of avoiding tough questions from reporters. “If you consider the evening newscasts a reliable gauge of the liberal media at large (cable news, big newspapers, etc.), it means Biden has enjoyed an army of so-called journalists conducting a massive negative information campaign against his opponent, while he is sheltered from any scrutiny,” Noyes wrote. “Controversies from the spring, such as allegations from former staffer Tara Reade that he sexually assaulted her in the 1990s, completely disappeared from his evening news coverage in June and July,” Noyes added. As a result, Trump said on Monday that he “has no choice” but to campaign during the Democratic National Convention because Biden gets preferential treatment from the media. “We have a guy that doesn’t come out of his basement and the media covers,” Trump said on during a phone interview on “Fox & Friends.” “When they ask me questions, I have these people, there is fire out of their eyes … they’re asking me questions and I see the fire is burning in their eyes,” Trump said. “I look at some of them and say, ‘Boy, how can you have so much hatred?’” Trump then said Biden doesn’t have to deal with the same type of hostility from the press. In fact, the presumptive Democratic nominee doesn’t have to deal with the press at all. “He doesn’t take any questions from reporters,” Trump said. “Here I am getting bombs thrown at me every day by people that are totally, you know, frankly dishonest reporters, they’re espousing the view of the radical left, but here I am, bombs every day … but this guy doesn’t come out of his basement.”

Exactly…  And this was just the big three networks (i.e. ABC, CBS, & NBC).  If you were to do an analysis of CNN and MSNBC, it’d be worse.  Harvard Univ. (a very liberal university, by any measure) did such a study a couple years ago, and found that the coverage CNN, MSNBC and PBS/NPR did of Trump was over 95% negative for all of those news media outlets.  That’s not journalism.  That’s partisan activism on behalf of a certain party (i.e. the Democratic party) and Dem politicians.  And yet, we have idiots like Brian Stelter over at CNN actually saying with a straight face that there isn’t an anti-Trump news networks.  Seriously?!?  That frightening thing, is that he probably, actually believes that.  And, that’s the problem with what we call the dominantly liberal mainstream media (i.e. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, PBS/NPR, the Washington Post, the NY Times, etc).  You cannot get any unbiased news from them…which is why President Trump and others refer to them as ‘fake news.’  We’re just happy to document yet more proof for you.  You’re welcome.      🙂
