Left-wing activists launch ‘No Red Cross’ campaign, ask for donor dollars

Activists are discouraging Hurricane Harvey donors from giving to the American Red Cross and urging them instead to contribute to left-wing causes, some of which are advocacy groups engaged in little if any emergency relief work. Linda Sarsour, a prominent Muslim and feminist activist, sent out a tweet encouraging donors to give to the Texas Organizing Project Education Fund, which conducts “direct action organizing, grass-roots lobbying and electoral organizing led by working families in Texas.” “TOP is one of many organizations on this list you can choose to support,” Ms. Sarsour said in a Wednesday tweet that included the #NoRedCross hashtag. “Grassroots orgs on ground. Long term needed.” The Texas Organizing Project, which has fought Texas voter ID laws and supported sanctuary-state status, is part of the Hurricane Harvey Community Relief Fund, a coalition that includes labor groups such as the Service Employees International Union as well as Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid. “Together we will organize and advocate for our devastated communities, shining a spotlight on inequalities that emerge in the restoration of lives, livelihoods and homes, amplifying the needs of hard-hit communities, and providing legal assistance for residents wrongfully denied government support,” the coalition says on its fundraising page. The conservative site Twitchy opined, “DISGUSTING: Linda Sarsour is soliciting donations for a liberal political group masquerading as a Harvey relief fund,” while the Federalist’s Sean Davis called it a scam.

Indeed it is!  What kind of nauseating loser would tell you NOT to support, or donate to, the American Red Cross, especially in  time of crisis?!?  That’s how low these self-serving, extreme liberal maggots have sunk and how they operate.  You think “price gauging” of water and gas is bad..  That’s nothing..  They want your money to support their liberal, anti-America, anti-capitalism, socialist activism..  Antifa, The “Texas Organizing Project, and the rest of these vermin are all the same thing.  And, they’re being backed by many federal and state Democrat politicians (unless they’re publicly shamed, like Rep. Nancy Pelosi) and the more extreme liberal elements of the dominantly liberal mainstream media…like MSNBC.  Keep that in mind..when they ask for your hard-earned money.  If anything, give them the finger and donate to the American Red Cross; an organization actually out there help those suffering in Texas.

  1. Ummm…with all due respect, my family was in New York City in Hurricane Sandy’s aftermath, and quite honestly, the Red Cross was busier with photo-ops than with actually helping people. Local organizations like local community boards and police and fire departments were more helpful. And religious organizations also did some great work. I don’t think the anti-Red Cross movement is a liberal issue. It is an issue of enough people, such as my parents, suffering through ineffective response from the organization after natural disasters.

    1. Here at The Daily Buzz we respect all points of view; especially those with whom we disagree. So, thanks for yours! The humanitarian work of the American Red Cross (ARC) for over 130 years is well documented. Not too many organizations can match its scope of (again well documented) humanitarian and charitable work. And, how many of us have had CPR training or had swimming lessons that were run by the ARC? It is true that in the last 20 years or so, there have been a couple directors that were less than honorable. But, they were dismissed. And while I’m very sorry to hear that your family had a rough experience in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, I could just as easily share a personal anecdotal story that would highlight some of the great work it does, that I’ve seen firsthand. I’ve also worked with their international Red Crescent affiliates in combat zones in Afghanistan, and can personally vouch for their extraordinary efforts there under extremely dangerous As to the criticism of ARC.. This article specifically documents self-serving, agenda-driven, opportunistic, extreme liberal organizations that would rather you donate to their liberal activist efforts, then support ARC’s efforts in actually helping the victims of Harvey in Texas; something we, and most Americans, find despicable. I have yet to hear of any conservative groups trying such similar shameless tactics. Thanks for your comments, Brendan. Cheers!
